LOS ANGELES Barack Obama hasnt been the president for nearly two years, but his fame is still spreading at least when it comes to naming things after him.
The nations first African-American president need not go far around the country these days to find something that carries his name. Theres Barack Obama Way in New Albany Township, Indiana, and Barack Obama Boulevard in Pahokee, Florida. Theres a long list of schools now named for him, like Barack Obama Academy for Academic & Civic Development in Plainfield, New Jersey, and Barack Obama Elementary School in Richmond, Virginia.
Obama even has animal species named after him, like placida barackobamai, a sea slug.
(From the USAToday piece:
Meister said Obama was admired globally and was the perfect image for welcoming visitors to sunny southern California.
"Having an airport that (recognizes) the first African-American president, someone who won the Nobel Peace Prize, who got us out of the 2008 economic crisis and gave us affordable health care, should be celebrated," Meister said.)

“BO Parkway.” Runs by the sewage treatment plant. :)
All such places will state: EBT Accepted Here
Expect the BO named streets to degrade to the level of most MLK Jr. named roadways. Infested with burned out crack houses and sewer rats of the two-legged variety.

If that isn’t a glaring example of how mindless and schizophrenic this country has become, I don’t know what is.
Great news for knowing which areas of the city to avoid...
As a native NYer, very annoying Idlewild Airport was renamed JFK, although very easy to remember the IATA designation, and more recently the Triboro Bridge after the carpet bagging Senator RFK. I am sorry those two men meet gruesome ends but they had zero connection to NY.
I wonder if the Clintons are getting annoyed. I can’t think of one thing named after them.
LOL....just wait until they rename the GW Bridge, the Hillary Rodham bridge.
“..but his fame is still spreading ..”
His destruction is still spreading.
BO sewage treatment plant. BO/Reggie Love center for proctology.
Lots of names fit.
For better or worse, he was your carpet bagger. Having Ohio name something after him would be stranger.
Got a road named after the Muslim eunuch quota boy here.
Yup, crime, drugs, etc.
There was a murder not 2k feet from the office where I worked (at a FFRDC facility). We were totally underwhelmed at our location, but for some undetermined reason, powers that be chose to remain). The facility now has (wait for it) a very secure fence around it.
She was always a Yankees fan so that’s good enough.
Don’t give them any ideas. The Queensboro/59th Street Bridge was renamed the Ed Koch bridge.
Oops, I pulled an MSM idiocy. I was thinking Dorkbama for the road name when it was an MLK named road. Oh well, even though MLK had a hell of a lot more character than Dorkbama, the results are always the same.
Apologies, and my bad. I’ll sentence myself to 15 minutes of torture by looking at Mooochelle pics.
I find it annoying that President Obama changed the name of Mt. McKinley, the name by which I will continue to call it. My brother climbed all the way to its top.
Chicago recently floated the idea of renaming the Dan Ryan Expressway which runs through the south side. However, that was quickly abandoned...they thought it would be bad form for news reports...”three shot in drive by on the Obama” or “2 killed in fiery Obama pileup”....etc.
