Critics are pushing back against the portrayal of students from Covington Catholic High School as racist, after a confrontation between the school and a Native American counter-demonstrator at the March for Life on Friday.
The headline from the Associated Press at the Hollywood Reporter repeated in some form by outlets across the country read: Students in Make America Great Again Hats Mock Native Americans After Washington Rally.
CNN declared: Teens in Make America Great Again hats taunted a Native American elder at the Lincoln Memorial.
A viral video showed a group of male students cavorting on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial as a Native American man beating a drum walked toward them. The students gestures were perceived as mocking him.
Media pundits pounced on the students. Slate said that the student portrayed in the video had harassed the Native American and had the face of self-satisfaction and certitude, of edginess expressed as cruelty. It linked the incident to President Donald Trumps criticism of Sen. Elizabeth Warren for her claims of Native American heritage.
A writer at the National Review also declared that the students might as well have spit on the cross. The school itself and the diocese issued a public apology and pledged to discipline even expel the students:

The mayor of Covington, also spoke out against the students, in an op-ed quoted by the Washington Post, saying the videos of the students behavior at the event do NOT represent the core beliefs and values of this City.

Video posted by a group of left-wing activists present showed that the students had been taunted with racial slurs as the incident took place.
Yet the school posts this 9an abuse of justice and charity) on their website:
A MESSAGE FROM THE DIOCESE OF COVINGTON AND COVINGTON CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL
We condemn the actions of the Covington Catholic High School students towards Nathan Phillips specifically, and Native Americans in general, Jan. 18, after the March for Life, in Washington, D.C. We extend our deepest apologies to Mr. Phillips. This behavior is opposed to the Churchs teachings on the dignity and respect of the human person.
The matter is being investigated and we will take appropriate action, up to and including expulsion.
We know this incident also has tainted the entire witness of the March for Life and express our most sincere apologies to all those who attended the March and all those who support the pro-life movement.
The Diocese of Covington and Covington Catholic High School
Please see my prior post on this unemployed scam artist.....I would repost it here but I would have to reformat it all again.........
Cowards and fools.
They have endangered one of their students by their weak prejudicial statement.
Sue the media for defamation. These kids were not public figures.
The 5AM Local snewz puppet show had the Video with MAGA Dude standing there Peacefully while the drum beater was in MAGA Dudes space.
The snewz wench LIED with the press release version saying that drum beater was being abused and blah, blah, blah...
Im still trying to figure out why I was even on the channel.
Is this it? --->
This guy is basically an unemployed scam artist.......

The following story originally ran in the Omaha World-Herald on Nov. 26, 2000.
On 11/26/2000, he was 45 years old which means he was born in 1955.
In the article he states he was a Vietnam vet and was in the Marines.
To enlist in the Marines one has to be at least 17 years old with written parental permission AND have a high school diploma.
Assuming (but not likely) that Nathan Phillips graduated from high school in June of 1972 at the age of 17, and immediately enlisted in the Marines, He would then have had to go to boot camp, then SOI and further training which would have taken him to at least the end of 1972, early 1973..
By 1973, the military was already withdrawing troops from Vietnam and had already withdrawn all of them by the end of the year.
Yea, that’s it. but what you posted doesn’t contain the actual link “Nathan Phillips” which connects to a website that contains an article written about him in november 2000
What an orgy of bigotry this set off.
All the whitey-haters came out.
All the man-haters came out.
All the Catholic-haters came out.
If I were one of the students I would have dozens of lawsuits being prepared right now.
They do declare quite a lot, without facts to back them up.
They pick the side that fits their narrative and go with it.
Absolutely no journalism involved whatsoever. Thus, FAKE news.
General Phil Sheridan was right
Just another instance of purposefully false reporting done by the MSM, a phenomenon which has defined its stories, political and otherwise, since the beginning of the last century.
I see the Dailey Mail is still pushing the rotten white boys narrative. Couldn’t get on to the comments section, either.
It’s a private parochial school.
The can discipline their students in any way they see fit.
It is not unlike a Christian school expelling a student who rejects the faith, promotes abortion or is homosexual.
In case anyone is wondering where the location this
is happening at it is Covington, Kentucky.
I’ve watched several videos of this. Not only that, but the black guys started egging on the Native Americans, repeatedly yelling, “Look at dey hats, look at dey hats!” (The MAGA hats.)
HA! Love it. Most Excellent.
