In the past 72 hours, there have been two major, all-consuming news cycles based on either inaccurate or outright false allegations. Equally distressing as the fact that the press promoted these stories, despite obvious red flags, is that some reporters continue to cling to the original bogus narratives. Because when it comes to accusations leveled against President Trump and conservatives, many in the nation’s largest and most powerful newsrooms are less arbiters of the truth and more active participants in the toxic, hyper-partisan culture wars.
If there’s one takeaway from this weekend of clown-shoe news reporting, it’s that a disproportionate number of reporters care more about sticking it to the Right than they care about facts. The press has long been an unabashedly political machine, its many members leaning hard to the Left. But this weekend signals that the national news media have gone far beyond politics. It's straight-up culture war now in our leading newsrooms, much of it catering to the lowest, meanest partisans.
Don't expect the reporting to get better. So long as this industry continues its downward spiral into the supremely political, with reporters chasing blindly after wins for their respective teams, the reporting is only going to get worse. Much worse.

And there is a huge factor at play here. In most defamation cases, the person defamed is a public figure. Thus, the very difficult standard of proof required by NY Times v. Sullivan is applicable. These kids were not public figures in any way. Thus all they need to do is prove the reporting was false and was reported anyway as a result of simple negligence. A much easier standard to meet and one that they should be able to meet quite easily in this case. Cases should be worth many millions.
It's not disproportionate.
It's damn near 100%.

Kentucky DA said this weekend they are investigating. Need to prosecute the online threats.

Except for Lou Dobbs I can’t watch any of it anymore. Rush is getting better; he’s starting to criticize the right as well as the left. He is seeing what Establishment globalist NeoCons really are and it ain’t good. It appears lately Rush is finally becoming a populist-nationalist. Finally.

Sue the reporters and journalists rather than the media giant companies.
You have a high threshold to meet in order to mount a successful lawsuit against a news organization becuase of the broad protections the law affords news organizations here in the United States.
