Furloughed federal workers will have to pay dental, vision premiums or risk losing coverage

If going weeks without pay wasn’t bad enough, furloughed federal workers will be on the hook to pay the premiums for their dental and vision benefits -- or lose coverage.

Federal workers’ health insurance is separate from dental and vision coverage, and will remain intact throughout the shutdown. But after their second missed paycheck this week, the 800,000 furloughed federal workers will be billed directly for their dental and vision premiums, which are separate from their health plan, The Washington Post reports.

Where was this liberal compassion when Obama put 80,000 coal workers out of work?

Liberal compassion is strictly limited to liberal workers.
Federal workers qualify, coal workers do not.

Proving that the federal parasites are getting too many freebies on our dime.

It’s becoming obvious that we do not need at least 600,000 of the 800,000 furloughed.

Why doesn’t Trump open the government and issue an executive order to build the wall as a national security measure in our war on terror? Negotiating over the government closure only leads to watering down his proposals. I wish he would finally utilize his powers as Commander in Chief and stop trying to play paddycake with Pelosi

Last night as I was doing nothing, I thought of all the money we have to pay to the government - Federal taxes upwards of $25,000 per year and over a 40 year working life that is ONE million dollars. What do I get for it? Not a damn thing. It is squandered mostly. Meanwhile the guys protecting our nation go in and out of having to use food stamps. We are paying these shutdown Federal workers salaries. I don't give a damn whether they have to pay extra for anything during a shutdown.

My dad worked for GM on the line and when they would go on strike, do you know what that meant? That meant we went without food. During one particular strike we were down to nothing in the house. My dad borrowed 5 bucks from my uncle and we promptly went to the grocery store and my mom bought milk, peanut butter and fresh bread. To this day I savor the taste of peanut butter on fresh bread with a glass of milk.

So, to all you shutdown Federal workers, just shut the hell up!!!

Most of the furloughed workers are Democrat voters and many live in D.C. their votes aren’t important, they are democrat constituents. Sooner or later they will figure out that they need to pressure Democrats if they want an end to this.

The rest of us must pay, broke or not - and use credit cards, if necessary. When their backpay is dumped into their accounts, all they’ve suffered is intere$t on their card$. Normal life.

It is my belief that he is not doing it the way you are suggesting for two reasons.
The most immediate reason is that he wants to bring the democrat congress to its knees.

The second, longer view is that he wants to bring the country together and he is doing that by winning the battle over the wall.

OR, if they really want to get back to work - they need to pressure the Democrats as they are their constituency. Trump could care less, their votes are statistically meaningless...they vote for Joe Manchin and Democrats in D.C.

during obama’s term, seniors, disabled and veterans were denied Cost of Living Increases, while everyone in government, who make 10’s of 1000’s more than these groups of folks, got their cost of living increases every single year- As well, prices under obama rose significantly for practically everything- Gas prices were ridiculous- things like breads, cereals, etc rose dramatically- yet apparently there was ‘no cost of living increases’ for several years under obama’s term-

How many people LOST their jobs completely under obama because he had no idea how to fix the economy, and we had record high unemployment? And not just for a month or two, but for YEARS?)? How many people became homeless under obama?

Federal employees can’t have a double martini for their lunch for a few weeks? Cry me a river!

...that’ll be later. Most are too stupid and blind to understand what’s happening.

Oh my, government workers having to deal with the adversity for 3 weeks- the same adversity private sector Americans have been dealing with for 10 years

Oh, the horror.

Tell it to all the company owners and employees wiped out and forced into liquidation and unemployment by the feckless politicians sequester disaster.

I’m sure they were will cry a river.

BTW, the government employees will be getting back pay for not showing us for work as soon as the government re opens so it’s more like a paid vacation action with deferred pay

He might declare war on the drug lords, lock and load and go after them (while building a wall). Why are these putzes considered a civilian problem? They’re armed and organized and they’re violating our border. This is one of the reasons we have a standing military in the first place.
