Here’s a little clue about why the state in the school systems are so concerned having morons attend school everyday. It’s all about money. Every time one of these kids doesn’t come to school the school district losses Federal money which is based on attendance days.

Yep. I discovered that little secret when one of my children was in pre-K and missed too many days. The reason why didn't matter to the school. They didn't care about him at all. It was all about money.

News flash ... Parents aren't allowed in the school in the first place.

During my four year stint on the local public school board I did inquire about a parent auditing their childs' class .... nope.

How about a class in general, sayyyyy ... civics .... nope.

What CAN a parent do?

Request a meeting with the teacher which will be overseen by/with the superintendent.

This was about five years ago.

WE HAVE GOT TO SHUT THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM DOWN BY DEPLETING THEIR CUSTOMER BASE.

And I honestly don't care how many teachers, good and bad, are put out of work.

EVERY MAMA IS CAPABLE OF TEACHING UP TO THE THIRD OR FOURTH GRADE AND BY THAT TIME YOU REALIZE YOU ARE SMART ENOUGH.

This will do nothing to move commies away from her. Those people have no morals, and if not for double standards, they wouldn’t have any standards at all.

Kams looks strong right now but I doubt she will be the Dems presidential candidate. She could be the VP candidate.

She is one nasty piece of work. She is a Hillary clone but 20 years younger so has more drive and is physically healthy. Cankles was one of the walking dead in 2016.

I remember when we here in FR advocated a tough love stand on juvenile behavior including the punishment of parents.

I don't think that extended to jail and homeless parents.

I agree that chronic truants take up air and are disruptive. Regarding medication at school, not sure of your state but i recall with sons asthma med he got doctors note and was allowed to carry and use inhaler.

Once upon a time there was good reason to send your child to public school.Way back then real education was offered in those institutions. Now one subjects one’s child to propaganda and indoctrination in a day prison by sending him to public school. The state has good reason to require attendance. It needs to make Democrat voters.

Almost every State has laws that punish parents of truant kids with either a fine, or jail time. A lot have had such laws since the ‘90’s. I would think it does more harm than good, but I can’t see “informed” leftist voters thinking it’s a bad idea. It most often affects the uninformed poor, many of whom vote democrat traditionally. Both groups will gladly line up to vote for any democrat candidate, no matter how repugnant.

Actually, I do remember comments about jailing parents for rearing a murderer or something.

Admittedly, it was many years ago and more than likely made by FReepers no longer with us, but that too is a change.

We (not me, I was too insecure trying to "converse" with what I still consider wise people) coined the phrase "flame war" because of very heated back and forths.

My memory is very bad so all I remember is "ASH" whom I don't even know if he's alive or not.

FreeRepublic used to be a verbal battleground.

People got bloodied (FReeper jail) or killed (Banned forever) and all of us observers became the wiser for their sacrifice(s)

The Tree of Liberty and all that.

LOL. Conservatives are all about enforcing reasonable laws. And truancy laws are reasonable. But I guess an exception is made when the enforcer is someone we don’t like.

There are parents for whom this law may sound reasonable, such as neglectful parents, but when many schools promote kids from grade to grade, no matter how poorly they do, and teach twaddle and socialist claptrap, rather than truly educating, who benefits? I believe these laws were designed to make sure desks are occupied. School districts receive taxpayer money for each student who attends, day by day. When a kid is absent, a portion of their funding for that day is withheld. If schools were really interested in the welfare of students, they would get back to teaching the “3Rs”, and unadulterated history and science. These truancy laws are about money.

This was in Florida 20 years ago.

All she needed most of the time was small dose of over-the-counter antihistamine, usually Benadryl. The school would not let me bring over and have the nurse or me give her the pill. I talked to a doctor and he said one Benadryl won’t do anything because I obviously know nothing about my child. So as I pointed out she could go to school three days a week and run circles around all the curriculum. So far as I’m concerned she could stay home and read comic books when she didn’t feel well. Which is basically what we did. I found a whole bunch of old Comics at a flea market. And I said if you don’t feel well just sit around and read them.

I had done all I was going to do to accommodate the overpaid blithering idiots running Polk County Schools.

Here’s a little Public School Story from 1999 - 2000 school year in Polk County Florida at Lakeland High School.

My daughter and a friend of hers who was also pretty intelligent in their junior year were taking a class called marine biology. Sounds like real academic work doesn’t it?

Well it seems that most of the class couldn’t pass the tests which were all open book. Because my daughter and her friend were acing this stuff with their eyes closed, the teacher early on in the semester told them that their presence there was disruptive and they were going to get an A way so why didn’t they just go to the library or hang out somewhere the rest of the term instead of coming to class.

She also had an architectural class where the teacher was raising grades if they brought in some sort of contest stickers from McDonald’s at the time.

These are your tax dollars at work. The money is confiscated from you and your kids are forced to go to public school.

No, truancy laws are not reasonable. We need an end to compulsory attendance and to get government out of education altogether. Kids forced to be in school do not learn. All of this force is about one thing - the education establishment, money, power, and teachers’ unions. Privatize education at all levels, let parents decide on their child’s education, and in cases where there is truly neglect, then the government can intervene. The reason the society in schools resembles that of prison is because they are prisons. Very little actual learning takes place in schools. They are designed to provide subsidized babysitting for working parents and to keep people out of the workforce for as long as possible for the benefit of unions.

The concept of public education was horribly flawed from its enception.

This is because teachers’ unions are one of the main supporters of the Dem party. They will cough up big bucks for this tyrant.

Truer words....that describes most power grabbers, if not all.
Ethics? Why let a concept like that get in my way. “I’ll squash the little innocents, step on their heads like they were stepping stones, to get the power. After that, who will dare to challenge me?”

I was wondering why CNN was pushing Harris.

Possibly a Hillary Clinton play late after Harris’ sex photos are uncovered:

Since 70% or more of Freepers don’t read the articles I thought I would post what I find most interesting:

(SNIP) The video, posted on Twitter by Walker Bragman, a journalist, has refocused attention on the California Democrat’s hardline days as a prosecutor and elicited a torrent of criticism on social media.

Bragman tweeted: “Kamala Harris continued on to describe how she’d brought charges against a single homeless mother of 3 who was working 2 jobs because her children were truant...and this was a success story.”

(SNIP)

TWITTER SUSPENDED THAT ACCOUNT ON WEDNESDAY.

Demi, whose handle is @demisaysstuff said: “I feel like terrorism isn’t the best method to reduce truancy.”

I suspect Demi’s account was also suspended :(
