Statement by NOW President Toni Van Pelt 02.06.2019 WASHINGTON – The National Organization for Women (NOW) calls on Justin Fairfax to remove himself from the line of succession by resigning his office.
Dr. Vanessa Tyson has made the brave decision to come forward and reveal in her own words what happened between her and Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax during the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston. Her story is horrifying, compelling and clear as day – and we believe her.
We believe and support survivors. We always believe and support survivors.
This is more important than who is going to be the next governor of Virginia. This isn’t about politics. It’s about a woman who has experienced sexual assault – a serious crime – at the hands of a powerful man, who is now attacking her character. In order to tear down the systemic and toxic sexism in this country, we must speak out against it.
Enough is enough.
It’s “he said, she said”, so they’ll never convict this guy in a court.
BUT politically, he’s a dead-man-walking right now ... only a matter of time until he resigns.

It’s hilarious as the media was absolutely giddy about the prospect of Fairfax replacing Northam two days ago. He’s as far left as you can get, and a Black guy to boot. They were stepping all over themselves to get rid of Northam for this clown.

It's not a win, of any kind, for "us".
If he raped her (and I believe this story fits the MA law of rape), he should be indicted, extradited, tried, and sent to prison if convicted.
But this business of accusations of past racism, sexism, odd lookism, etc, etc presents as much danger to "us" as it does to "them". It uses extrajudicial punishment, with no fairness to the accused, and we have to put a stop to it.
