NFL columnist Mike Freeman reported that “team officials are speculating to me [that] the NFL paid Kaepernick in the $60 million to $80 million range.”
Not so small.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
GiVing in to Kaepernick will just create more guys who would rather extort the NFL than work for it.

The deal calls for him to be inducted into the Hall of Fame when they open up the new SJW wing, and an annual award in his name to other players that meet hus standards. /s

The league has 14 billion in revenue. 60 million is a rounding error on their budget.

Probably not. Anybody else that might be able to argue collusion (a case I think Kaep would have lost, too many rumors of offers he declined) has a video of them hitting a woman that can be brought to bear. There’s a certain level of sympathy among the chattering classes for him, gave his situation a different feel. Let’s face it, the league could stand up and say “hell yeah we colluded to keep Ray Rice out” and nobody would complain.

They can afford now that everyone he and they offended, and never rectified, have returned to watching.

Isn’t that roughly the amount he lost by opting out of his contract in 2016?
I know he was probably going to be cut, and never would have gotten the full value, but this might be how the NFL justifies the settlement.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
IOW....I’m still a useless blob and can’t play football. I would’ve lost this too
