Venezuela crisis: US planes carrying aid arrive in Colombia

US military planes have been delivering humanitarian aid for Venezuela in the Colombian border town of Cucuta.

The aid is being stockpiled at the request of the Venezuelan opposition leader, Juan Guaidó, who declared himself interim president last month.

President Nicolás Maduro has alleged that the aid is part of a US plot to disguise an invasion into Venezuela.

Mr Guaidó said some 600,000 Venezuelan volunteers would carry the aid across the border on 23 February.

Maduro is going to do what all despots do when the aid gets there. He’s going to claim that he made it rain.

Why exactly are we helping these a**holes??

I don't know: 100,000s of starving defenseless desperate men, women and children should just be slaughtered in the streets for simply wanting food and freedom.

Agree. We have enough problems to keep our tax dollars tied up without sending it to the ends of the Earth. Venezuela made their bed. It’s what they wanted. No sympathy for them at all. They’ve had years to change things around but they never did. They had years to grow their own gardens, have backyard chickens and goats but they never did.

All those news articles of them dumpster diving because there’s no food is hooey. If everyone was starving, there would be nothing to dumpster dive for. How many times have we seen pictures of dirty people sitting on sacks of potatoes and oranges. How many times do we have to read about farmers who whine because they’re starving. Something is wrong with a story when a farmer with a half dozen healthy looking teenage kids posing for pictures in their front yard without one single tomato plant or beans growing on a wall claim his family is starving. Something also is wrong with stories of street food vendors who claim they have nothing to feed her children.

In principle I agree.

I'm not sure sending food, medical supplies for their people to carry across the border is foreign adventurism....

“Juan Guaidó, who declared himself interim president last month.”

BBC another leftist infested “news” outlet. He did not declare himself president. Their version of Congress did.

They literally voted for it. And they will vote for it again. Like those who flee blue states to red states, but still vote socialist. Their mentality doesn’t change.
