Black Elizabeth Warren volunteer says walked out of speech because she ignored success of minorities
Washington Examiner ^ | February 15, 2019 | Alana Goodman

Posted on 02/17/2019 7:41:26 AM PST by SJackson

A man who abruptly walked out of Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s presidential announcement speech on live TV said he left because he “couldn’t relate or identify with the things that she was saying” and thinks Warren is focused too much on raising taxes and not enough on increasing opportunities for minorities.

Johnhaynes Honeycutt, 23, a small business owner from western Massachusetts, told the Washington Examiner that he went to Warren’s launch speech on Saturday expecting to agree with the senator, but instead, he was frustrated over her comments about taxes and equality for minorities.

“I was an Elizabeth Warren supporter,” said Honeycutt. “But I found at the event there wasn’t any way for me to identify with the things she was saying. That was why I walked out.”

Honeycutt, who is African-American, said he was a volunteer at the event and was placed directly behind the senator during her announcement speech. About 40 minutes into the event, Honeycutt, who was wearing a lime-green shirt and waving an American flag, can be seen whispering to a female friend standing next to him. The two then abruptly turn and walk out of the speech.

Honeycutt said he believed Warren focused too much on tax hikes for the wealthy and injustices in the prison system but not enough on expanding opportunities for minorities and for people who are struggling financially.

“She’s a small-town girl, and her family were blue-collar, and now she’s in this position [as a presidential candidate]. Rather than taxing and fighting the rich and using that as her only focus, she should be focusing on opening up opportunities for the people that are in the same position she was once in,” said Honeycutt.

“There are so many minorities that are doing well in this country, and I feel like Elizabeth Warren should be using her platform to illustrate that end of it,” he added.

Warren was nearly an hour late to her scheduled outdoor rally, which took place outside a former textile mill in Lawrence, Mass. Her supporters waited for her to appear as temperatures hovered around 32 degrees.

The speech focused on her theory that Washington politics are "rigged" by millionaires and lobbyists and designed to take advantage of low-income people and on the notion that wealthy people aren't paying their fair share of taxes.

"We need to take power in Washington away from the wealthy and well-connected and put it back in the hands of the people where it belongs," said Warren.

She said the federal government needed to "start asking the people who gained the most from our country to pay their fair share" and called for "an ultra-millionaires tax to make sure millionaires start doing their part for the country that made them rich."

Identity politics are sure identifiers of those with low self esteem and who quite properly will not succeed in anything save for....politics.

Long past time to tell the “volunteer” to shove it.

It must be tough being a Democrat politician these days. So many niche constituents to worry about! The balancing act needed would make me dizzy.

For example, whadda you do when Muslims oppose a law favored by transsexual illegal immigrants? Yes, Muslims normally trump everybody else. But the transsexual illegal immigrants represent two victim groups, not one.

Warren just wants minorities to stay poor and dumb. They make better Socialist “democrats”.

"start asking the people who gained the most from our country to pay their fair share"

Why is it always about money? What about say someone with ability to excel at professional sports. Why should only a special few play professional sports? Why can those who dream of playing professional sports but lack the skill, time or ability be allowed to play? Isn't this only FAIR!

What about entertainers? There are thousands of waiters who dream of working in entertainment! Why can't they be allowed to live their dream? It's only FAIR!

Come on Liz, focus on all the inequalities not just wealth, expand your scope to be inclusive of all!

You could make the same argument about incumbents in Congress. Come on Liz, move over and let some dispossessed minority have your seat. It’s only fair...

Just as is said about having to hold different narratives in one's mind as result of telling a lie, Liz is having to deal with having not only told a lie but basing her entire career on a lie.

Her attention/focus is significantly divided and she is campaigning like a stumbling drunk.

She is pathetic.

“Elizabeth Warren is going nowhere politically...”

You got that right. She is Senator-for-life and won’t leave office until carried out on a gurney just like Teddy the Swimmer from the same seat.

Thank you, Massholes.

when I read the first 3 words, Black Elizabeth Warren, I thought maybe she was now changing tactics by claiming she’s black.

I don’t feel I have enough handle on the Hierarchy of Protected Icon Groups to be able to even join the Democrat party. It’s too difficult.

On Fox this morning Warren’s flunkies were ejecting a dude who was shouting, “Why did you lie on your college application!!?”

Lieawatha is a shrew & a scold with no empathy. Massholes will keep returning her to office but that’s it.

B.J. was late a lot at his rallies. But to leave them out in the cold?

Nearly all Democrat candidates do this at their rallies.

They're in a backroom or in their car and are watching the people get worked up, then they fashionably stroll in and get bigger applause.

That's how socialism is. Remember in grade school where kids have to line up and wait for something?

Just more proof that people who support Democrats are completely brain-dead.

” Rather than taxing and fighting the rich and using that as her only focus, she should be focusing on opening up opportunities for the people that are in the same position she was once in (he said).”

But, but, but...that would make her a republican.

Maybe if she discovered a recent relative who was black, based on facial structure or whatever, would that make her more appealing?

“We need to take power in Washington away from the wealthy and well-connected and put it back in the hands of the (wealthy) people (like me and Bernie, and very soon AOC) where it belongs,” said Warren.

Fixed it.

Republicans do well in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. One thing I like about Trump is that he campaigned in all 50 states.

I agree, after all, if successful he expected to represent citizens of all 50 states. Had he followed the GOP or Hillary strategy of skipping states one was sure of, like WI, OH, MI, we might be talking about a President Hillary.

Shouldn't suprise people either. Given the level of campaign expenditures, Trump's half of his opponent, but still a lot of money, why would any state be left out.

Democrats define success as government handouts. Independence is abhorrent, especially when demonstrated by people of color. They need to stay on the Democrat plantation.

Democrat's define success as a nation as Democrat's winning. Government handouts are just a means to an end. If they could, they'd pay for votes in cash.
