If I were a young parent today, I would insist on spacing these vaccines out. I nearly died from a smallpox vaccination when I was very little. My mother told me that the doctor had said that if I actually contracted smallpox I would have died. Smallpox at that time had not been completely eradicated by the way. Measles, mumps, polio, etc., vaccines were still in the future.
I think it better children have a few moments of discomfort over the course of a year or two. I know that these days smallpox vaccinations are no longer given, but measles, mumps, and polio are dangerous diseases as well and why throw them at the child all at once?
