"there’s a bit of a special place in my heart for True Grit."

You like one eyed fat men?? I never usually like remakes but the True Grit remake by the Cohen brothers may even be a better movie than the original. Jeff Bridges I must say was as good as John Wayne. In any event, they are both very good movies but very different. One thing I like about the remake was the final scene where they show the now grown Mattie Ross and the results of her obsession with revenge. How she only had one arm, was a bitter woman who never married and never appeared to enjoy life but still had a deep love and respect for Marshall Cogburn.

No,the movie when he played Gangis Lang was the worse. It was also probably the cause of the death of most of the actors and crew of getting cancer. Seems they filmed where nuclear wastes were deposited. I think Lee Van Cliff was the only actor to escape the Big C.

I loved the Duke. By far my favorite actor growing up. Watching Sands of Iwo Jima the first time on a late night movie channel as a boy was one of the reasons I made a career out of the Marine Corps. I wanted to be Sgt Stryker!! (minus the alcoholism, failed marriage and ruined career)

Now that you have given away the store so to speak. If you had an about page, we might have known much sooner. Thanks for your service.

It was and is an honor to serve this country. My screen name gives it away. Teufel Hunden is German for Devil Dogs. The name the German soldiers supposedly gave to Marines in WWI comparing them to legendary Hounds of Hell from German fables.

HOLLYWOOD, CA—After a 1971 Playboy interview with John Wayne that was deemed offensive surfaced online, liberal activists took to the streets to boycott the actor, vowing that Wayne will never work in Hollywood again.

Watch what will happen when the liberals find out that Wayne made the movie "Big Jim McClain" in which he played an investigator from the House of Representatives Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC) chasing down Communists. HUAC was the bête noire of liberals in the mid-twentieth century. Liberals will have kittens when they hear about this film.

As noted, ‘The Conqueror’ was by far the worst John Wayne movie. Genghis Kahn? Did have Rita Hayward and Agnes Moorhead.

St. George, Utah, nuclear site.

No more posthumous beer commercials for John, I guess.

Both The Duke and Lee Marvin starred in “Donovan’s Reef.” It looks like they had a good time.

"Yep. Gone With the Wind is already banned."

Ditto "Song of the South". Disney won't release videos in the USA, although as I understand, they can be had in Europe.

I remember that scene. The Duke threw the kid in the water cause he said he couldn’t swim (ie. to teach him how.)

The kids mom came running down to the river to chew him out and he turned and asked her “Can you swim maam?” The look he gave her scared her and she knew she may be next and turned to run. Funny scene. LOL!
