"Natural born" means citizen without the need for naturalization (i.e. born). "born citizen'" is the same thing as natural born citizen.
Her Dad is disgusted by her for very good reason. What she said was vile.
There's no legal basis for that definition anywhere.
Ted Cruz was born in Canada.
“One of these days, no one will be sworn in. If they win the election by hook or crook, they will just assume the position on a certain date.”
Unfortunately, I second your prediction.
Obama started it with both of his so-called “botched” swearing-in ceremonies, which Roberts assisted by recreating off-camera afterwards.
From the bird droppings I’m seeing, Kamala is the designated Dem loser for 2020, backed by insiders.
Jindal is also not natural born. I believe his parents were not US citizens when he was born
California is also having an early primary next time, which could give her a jump on the competition.
But because there will be 20 or 30 candidates this time, it might not be wise for big names in the party to commit themselves to any one candidate too early.
The Constitution names three categories of citizens:
Citizens,
Naturalized citizens,
Natural born citizens.
Why did they not use one term, nor use the terms interchangeably?
Because they nnoted the differences between them.
Why?
Answer that question, and you answer all questions that swirl about this debate.
Read post #28. Republican Wildcat gives a thorough explanation of the law.
Note that when 12 she moved to Canada with her mother. Did they by any chance become Canadian Citizens? Not certain how to research this, But we need screen shots before the disappear!
She did attend High School in Canada. So did they teach her Canadian or U.S. History? (Uh...Canadian) As far as I am concerned this is enough to disqualify her. (and BaOb. and J F#ng Kerry) Has She released her records from Howard University is she listed as a Foreign Transfer?
Note her Grandfather was an Indian Diplomat. I do not think her mother came under that Diplomatic status; Her mother came to the US to attend School in what 1961? K H was born in 1964. What type of Visa did her mother have when she came? When Did she apply for Citizenship? Did she obtain it before going to Canada? lots of questions to research!
(All this stuff sounds too much like our recent 3rd world President BO.)
(Have to go do things!)
Side note: see also Van Jones.
In U.S. v. Wong Kim Ark (1898), the Opinion of the Court was written by Justice Horace Gray. The Court did not explicitly rule that Mr. Wong was a natural born citizen; it merely ruled that he was a citizen.
In Perkins v. Elg (1939), the Supreme Court referred to Marie Elizabeth Elg as a natural born citizen. She was born in the United States; her father was a U.S. citizen by naturalization, and her mother was a U.S. citizen by marriage.
Supreme Court precedent: The courts have applied the partus sequitur patrem principle (citizenship by descent from one’s father) to determine who is, or who is not, a federal (U.S.) citizen at birth; but the meaning of natural born citizen appears to be a separate issue [21]. To this day, the Supreme Court, in its majority opinions, has consistently used the term “natural born citizen” only in reference to persons born on U.S. soil, to parents who are both U.S. citizens.

During the 1866 Congressional debates regarding the 14th Amendment, the framers and sponsors of the 14th Amendment explained that the word “jurisdiction”, as used in the 14th Amendment citizenship clause, means “full and complete jurisdiction” and “not subject to any foreign power” (Madison (2007)). If a child is born in the United States, of a parent who is a citizen of a foreign country, the child is subject to the jurisdiction of that foreign country, and is therefore not subject to U.S. “jurisdiction” in the 14th Amendment sense (see
Concerning kamala, it applies perfectly.
Kamala is not a nbc
No, she does not.
The 14th is misinterpreted to meet
their definition.
Thanks I read post 28 and looked up Minor v. Happersett. It certainly does not define “natural-born” as “born of citizen parents within the jurisdiction of the United States”. There is no support for that notion that I am aware of (other than it being repeated ad nauseam). That case supports the idea that there are two types of citizens: those born in the US and those naturalized. Natural born refers to the former, not a third type.
