House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – and the old guard Democrats at large – are in a very difficult position.
The radical young voters that Democrats have been courting for years have finally elected like-minded radical young representatives – and Pelosi, D-Calif., and her leadership team have no control over them.
A big reason why, as I mentioned on “Hannity” this week, is that there is a wide generation gap between Democratic House leaders and freshmen Democrats such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and others.
The median year of birth for the 59 Democrats who assumed office this year is 1973. Sixteen of these members were born on or after 1980.
Nancy Pelosi was born in 1940. The average age of Democratic leaders is 71.
To the new Democrats, the leaders are like the grandparents. And I don’t mean this in a positive way that could foster an opportunity for maternal or paternal mentorships.
The new Democrats believe the Pelosi’s team represents an outdated, backward way of thinking about government. This is understandable. How many 30-somethings do you know who share the same point of view as their 80-year-old grandparents?
The result is that these new Democrats are throwing a party – and the grandparents aren’t invited.
Pelosi and members of Democratic leadership are simply trapped in a cycle of responding to headlines. This is how you end up with the so-called Green New Deal, which is a work of complete legislative fantasy that would utterly bankrupt the country.

Uh....the country is already bankrupt and neither political party or even President Trump are preventing the debt from accumulating and the budget from being out of balance. The generation of these new folks seems to be saying "just print more money". Can you really blame them? My parents generation that lived through the depression as teens are in their 90s. That's the last generation that had to worry about starving. Have these adult-children ever had to be financially responsible? Have the ever had to make choices? Have they ever been deprived of anything because they didn't have the money to pay for it?
Why should they want the party to end? I suspect that a lot of them know their lives won't be comfortable or fun when it does.
The country's goin' down anyway. And stuff like their green new deal? Is it any crazier than subsidies for wind mills and solar panels? Than living in McMansions, driving gas guzzlers, and yet wanting to save the environment?
I'm enjoying the kids. They make more sense than Chuck and Nancy and all of the Trump haters who for the past two years will destroy the nation rather than work for the changes President Trump could bring forward.
What can she do? Fire them? She has no more real control over them than most grandparents have over their grandchildren. And yes Pelosi is demented and in the end will do everything she can to placate them. Hopefully the majority of American voters are adults and will reject socialism.

Yep, I don’t doubt that at all.
It’s certainly true liberal younger people have no respect or use for elders. Which is tragic.
Few American grandmothers would be happy to have their granddaughters looking and acting like ISIS members in Muslim headscarves while making anti-Semitic statements like Ilhan Omar, or, in the case of AOC, making embarrassingly foolish statements in public every time they opened their mouths.
Islamic fascist grandmothers, on the other hand would be very happy. As for Nancy Pelosi, whose major goal is to keep her Speakership at all costs, she’s been happy to enable Islamo-fascism in the Democratic House as long as she can keep her gavel.
