US to withdrawal all remaining personnel from venezuela embassy this week (Venezuela live thread)
SOS ^

Posted on 03/11/2019 9:03:29 PM PDT by janetjanet998

The U.S. will withdraw all remaining personnel from @usembassyve this week. This decision reflects the deteriorating situation in #Venezuela as well as the conclusion that the presence of U.S. diplomatic staff at the embassy has become a constraint on U.S. policy.

the guys got to buy time to get out of dodge...

Yeah, and he doesn't have a lot of family baggage, one worthless son named Nicolas who has already threatened to (snork!) invade New York. If he disappears, it's on.

Oh, yes, and Maduro already threatened to host Iranian missiles (with, it was speculated at the time, North Korean warheads) even before the Russians showed up. Lots of very nasty people looking for a butt-kicking.

Bank robbery in Merida, Venezuela - the local currency wasn't even worth carrying anymore. Even those just passing by ignore it.

Report by Francisco Amarin ....that tonight on Venezela national tv Maduro said electrical blackout was caused by “large flying devices” sent by the U.S. that perched on antennas and began to emit electro-magnetic energy.

As i remember it, the Iraq war started with knocking out the power grid in Baghdad.

They dropped a bunch of carbon fiber which was conductive and shorted out lots of stuff.

Some was dropped from airplanes, some was dropped from drones.

Venezuela’s Guaidó mulls foreign military intervention for humanitarian aid (https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/venezuelas-juan-guaido-to-left-socialism-cause-of-humanitarian-crisis-as-he-preps-foreign-military-intervention )

Guaidó said he will invoke a constitutional article allowing the Congress to authorize foreign military operations to intervene in the country’s humanitarian crisis.

“There is part of Article 187 of our National Constitution, which is not only for Venezuela, but it allows for an outside country to cooperate or to assist Venezuela in this sense,”

Wide spread looting is causing more havoc in the capital City of Caracas and other parts of the South American country Opens a New Window. as conditions continue to deteriorate.

On kind of a fun note though: “Juan Guaidó invited Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) to see the humanitarian crisis for themselves.”

See this excellent post on black starting a major power plant by FReeper Fellow Traveler:

Restarting the national power grid from scratch is nontrivial, especially when it’s quite likely the technical staff necessary to do so has glad the country and/or are scrambling for food to keep their families alive.

A lack of clean water will result in the return of both Cholera and Typhoid which will seriously harm the people there.

Looks like a little bit of Roundup could have prevented that.

Round-up doesn't apply itself. That weed infested tower reveals extreme poor maintenance. If they're not even bothering with weed control, they're also not bothering to maintain the generators, transformers, etc.

Like Liberals here in the US, the socialists in Venezuela simply can’t just admit they’re wrong, that they’ve failed. About anything. Ever.

Bingo, you nailed it. They won't admit that their system has failed. Maduro will likely be thrown under the bus, giving them the "wrong man was running it" excuse. His successor will probably enact a few market reforms, not unlike Lenin's New Economic Plan in 1921. But once the situation stabilizes it will be back to full-on socialism as usual.

Latest:

1) looting is becoming widespread

2) the government has cancelled schools and business until at least Weds.

3) the US backed president has called for a protest tomorrow at 3pm

4) Maduro has given the green light this evening for his thugs to “take action”

5) reports are journalists have gone missing

6) lack of clean water is becoming a problem

7) still no power for much of the country, some are people get power back for a short while before it goes out again

Socialism in action... commie thugs have running out of 'other people's money'...

“....Like Liberals here in the US, the socialists in Venezuela simply can’t just admit they’re wrong, that they’ve failed. About anything. Ever. The Venezuelans are quickly realizing, however, that actual reality is here. And it sucks....”
Probably one of the most profound post on this entire thread and bears repeating.
Not too long ago, Venezuela was one of the most wealthy capitalist countries in South America....until the socialist/communists took over.
We have the radical socialist RAT party here that is doing everything it possibly can to lead our country right down this very same path. As someone else posted above, let it be a lesson to those that scoff at preppers. When (not IF) the ultimate SHTF here, we shall see just who survives and who doesn’t. I can guarantee you it won’t be the socialists out of the urban areas. Most of em will deserve a good, old-fashioned, Texas-style azz-whoopin’. Lampost hangin’ is only a good start.

Luis Carlos Díaz went missing at about 5.30pm on Monday after leaving the radio station where he worked in the capital, Caracas.

A social media hunt ensued with Twitter users demanding #DóndeEstáLuisCarlos or #WhereIsLuisCarlos.

Early on Tuesday, fellow journalists confirmed Díaz had been taken by members of Venezuela’s feared intelligence service, Sebin.

Venezuela’s National Press Workers Union said agents raided Díaz’s home shortly before dawn, seizing computers and pen drives as the handcuffed journalist looked on.

Díaz is reportedly now being held in the notorious El Helicoide political prison.
