Confirmation of Lowenstein’s Paul Matey Flips 3rd Circuit to Republicans
New Jersey Law Journal ^ | March 12, 2019 | Charles Toutant

Posted on 03/12/2019 2:28:09 PM PDT by ScottfromNJ

The U.S. Senate voted by a 54-45 margin on Tuesday to confirm Paul Matey to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. With Matey’s confirmation, the Third Circuit shifts to a 7-6 majority of Republican appointees, making it the first court of appeals in the nation to see its composition switch under Trump, who has been clear on his goal to remake the federal judiciary with conservative judges. Trump previously appointed Stephanos Bibas and David Porter to the 14-member court of appeals.

On Monday, after a vote to close debate on the Matey nomination was split on party lines, Sen. Robert Menendez, D-New Jersey, sharply criticized Republicans for advancing Matey’s nomination without the consent of the two home-state senators.

Just the fact that party affiliation is important when it comes to these black robed tyrants is all the proof I need to know that allowing these old windbags to interpret our Constitution and laws is a big mistake. These windbags have political agendas just like the rest of us. If the left wants to close something down, I’d like to suggest the Federal judicial system. The greatest threat to America’s freedom and liberty.

I will be very happy when we can all study the history of how Democrats became so anti-American that they lost everything - ceasing to exist as a political party.

So there still another vacancy? Come on Trump/Turtle getter done.

I love it when a plan comes together. When more conservative decisions are delivered by the Appeals Courts, the Supreme Court can let those decisions stand, avoiding the chance of Roberts getting wobbly in the knees.

Well in fairness the dems appointed a few judges who surprised everyone by not being reliably far leftists. For example .... uh .... umm ... huh. Can't think of one. But I'm sure it happened, right?

Felix Frankfurter (FDR) and Byron White (JFK) are considered the two on the lib side of the scales who turned conservative.

I think FDR wanted to pack the court with additional Justices as a result. Libs (Eric Holder) are once again saying they will add to the Supremes if they win in the future.
