I saw an article on the forum last night about the military wanting a new type of aircraft. I'm normally interested in such things, but I just sat there staring at the headline and wondering,
"Why? To send our boys and girls off to some God-forsaken sh!tholes, to die defending the territories of ungrateful, barbarous hordes who hate us anyway?"
Meanwhile, our own country is being invaded and colonized at a record pace. What is the point of having a military if they're not allowed to defend their own damn country???

Rand and the others who voted against Trump sealed their fate.Congress gave the national emergency powers to the president decades ago,and EVERY president since has used it.Funds have been “repurposed” before,so that excuse is invalid.The need for a secure border is undeniable,as is the will of the people who voted for “build that wall”.

Any ‘Republican’ who wants an assured election/re-election outcome, only has to wholeheartedly support the wall.

Which is why you are having a vote, because there is a law passed by congress that authorizes the president to spend money on emergencies that was appropriated by congress but unallocated.
And that law has a provision where, if the congress thinks the specific spending for the specific emergency is not necessary, they can vote it down.
But here, we have senators who say there IS an emergency, and the money IS needed, and voted it down anyway.
Stupidly, the law as written allows the president to veto the vote to stop him, so they need even MORE votes.
The republicans realize this is a bad law, and want to fix it so that it takes a vote of congress to continue the spending (this is a better way to handle emergencies, let the president spend money immediately, but as the emergency continues, force congress to fund it).
But the democrats apparently love the law the way it is, and don’t want to change it at all, they just want to be upset that a republican is in the presidency.
