The production chief for Marvel Studios has added fuel to rumors that its next on-screen leading man will be same-sex attracted.
On March 1, the That Hashtag Show website published a rumor that an openly gay man will be cast as the lead of Marvel Studios 2020 superhero movie "The Eternals."
As Marvel Studios begins its search for the cast of the 2020 feature film, 'The Eternals,' we at 'That Hashtag Show' have learned that they are looking to cast an openly gay actor for a lead role in the film, Charles Murphy wrote.
According to Murphy, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige stated last year that the company was working towards bringing a new LGBTQ character to the mix in the near future.
As it turns out, that future is nearly upon us as the studio searches for an actor, 30-49, who physically looks like a superhero for one of the films leads, Murphy continued.
While the studio is open to actors of all ethnicity, they would prefer the role to go to an openly gay actor.
At the March 7 Los Angeles premiere of the heroine-led Captain Marvel, Marvel production chief Victoria Alonso told Variety at the studio was committed to diversity.
Im so passionate about this, Ive got to tell you, she told the reporter.
"Our entire success is based on people that are incredibly different. Why wouldnt we? Why would we only want to be recognized by only one type of person? Our audience is global, is diverse, is inclusive, Alonso continued.
If we dont do it that way for them, we will fail. If we dont put pedal to the metal on the diversity and the inclusivity, we will not have continued success. Our determination is to have that for all of the people out there watching our movies.
Asked if the world was ready for an openly gay superhero, Alonso affirmed that it was.
The world is ready, she said firmly. The world is ready.
There are already a number of same-sex attracted superheroes in the comic book universe. According to Looper.com, they include Northstar, a Canadian mutant and Marvels first LGBT character; the X-Mens Iceman, a character who debuted in the 1960s but came out as gay in 2015; and Rictor, whose 2009 kiss with another male superhero was Marvel Comics first depiction of a same-sex sexual act. Batwoman, who was introduced in the 1950s as a love interest for Batman, was reintroduced by DC comics as a same-sex attracted woman in 2006.
Captain America, however, remains himself:

Considering super heroes back in my comic book days (’50’s thru early ‘60’s) we had no idea about what their sexual persuasions were and didn’t care anyway...They were all tough, masculine men except for Wonder Woman...
“Neither group has second thoughts about mixed race or non-mixed gender relationships————”
My son has been in a mixed race marriage for almost 25 years,as many FReepers are.
.
Is the world ready for a mentally ill person with superpowers?
GERBIL-MAN !
Why do we need to know the sexual proclivities of a super hero at all?
“They were all tough, masculine men except for Wonder Woman...”
Heh. Check this out:
Sorry Marvel. The world is going just fine WITHOUT a sexual pervert “action hero”.
Perhaps it is. Or, perhaps Marvel is ready for a boycott.
Also, damn tired of the faggotry parade! Enough, already!
Too late. The 2017 Power Rangers movie beat them to it.
Victoria Alonsos husband thoroughly wrecked the print line as Marvels editor-in-chief. Looks like shes helping do the same for film.
Turns out they arent married or related. Oops.
These mutants at Marvel are sick #$@!$# who want to corrupt children.
I think the world has actually outgrown cartoons. Or it should have...
Pity we’ve stopped watching superhero movies.
It’s interesting because they are now taking the ‘acting’ out of acting. Back in the Shakespeare era, men played all the parts including the roles for women. In the recent past through to today people of either gender could play either or both role, straight or gay. Now, we hear people complain that Will Smith is not ‘dark-skinned enough’ to play a role, and that another role has to go to an openly gay actor. Nevermind that many of the famous actors now and of the bygone era were gay, including some of the ‘tough guys’ of yore. Spencer Tracy, Cary Grant, Montgomery Clift, Randolph Scott all purported to be gay or bi-sexual men. Grant and Scott even lived together for years, but their PR machines kept pushing out stories about “the two bachelor roommates”.
I keep saying radical gays are leading the democrats, Hollywood, Media, etc. They are hell bent on normalizing every kink.
Today, most folks know "God is no respecter of persons."
