Wait till he takes on a Russian.

If he's in NYC. he already has. Whatever ills NYC has, chess resources are abundant, even for 8 year olds. Ever see "In Search of Bobby Fischer"?

That he excelled in a NYC chess tournament is amazing, but suspicious.

I’ve played against Iranians that were ranked and won most of the games ( I never made it above class C), but I regularly got beat by younger Russians (mostly Jews). I stopped playing at 20, and most of these kids started playing by 4.

Not that he can’t improve that fast but to improve so high is truly amazing.
