Businesses, Residents Plan to Leave New York

A new poll shows a third of New York residents plan to move because they can't afford to stay.

Businesses that are closing cited "economic" reasons for their decision. They represent a wide array of industries including a biotech company, investment bank, internet services, commercial printer, and a Walmart online ordering processor.

New York governor Andrew Cuomo (D.), who is still reeling from the loss of Amazon, told CBS local news on Wednesday he was "sick to my stomach" and it was the "greatest tragedy I have seen since I've been in government." Amazon's deal would have provided $27 billion in revenues to the state and 25,000 new jobs.

A third of New Yorkers indicated they will leave as they cannot afford to live there, and 35 percent say they "will be forced to move in the next five years for better economic opportunity."

Please grow up. Not everyone who lives in a Lib controlled state is a Lib and thinks like a Liab.

And yet the libs who fled California turned all the neighboring states blue by continuing with their lib/progressive ways.

I hope they move to Boston.

They are moving to no income tax states where they can pay their fair share.

One way to keep Liberals from poisoning red states is to make them sanctuary states and require gun ownership.

You wrote:

It’s quite possible to be a New Yorker and have no LIB loser attitudes. I have a couple of friends that live in Northern New York that are not Libs in any way. According to you, if you leave New York, you have Lib attitudes (that must be left behind).

You wrote a sloppy statement and you got called on it. Sorry if that ruffles your feathers.

Mr. Cuomo is an idiot. This is “greatest tragedy I have seen since I’ve been in government.” how about 9/11? In his world, budget crises are worse than an enemy attack.

How about the great recession, which was largely fueled by Cuomo's lefty policies when he was the HUD secretary.

I packed my bags in 1985 when his DADDY was governor. So did all my siblings and most of my friends. We all left the Buffalo area. I went to NH. My brothers went to TX, PA and NC. There are so many Buffalo Bills fans in Charlotte that there are bars that show their football games during the season instead of the Panthers.

So, this is not a new thing. The problem is the Dems who run the state just keep making it worse. AKA, making Fracking illegal while the counties just south of economically depressed Binghamton in PA are booming. Nice going Cuomo.

The issue most of us former New Yorkers had was the fact that West Chester County south to NYC and Long Island should be a different state. Generally, upstate NY, especially western NY is more like Ohio and the Midwest. The NYS governor represents the interests of NYC area, not upstate because they know that is where all the votes are.

Take a look at those red/blue county maps of all the recent presidential elections. The cities are blue the rural areas are red with the rare exceptions to some Indian reservations in AZ and NM. Even in Illinois, Chicago is blue and the rest of the state is red. NY state is generally the same way. Even Easter Long Island(the Hamptons) where all the rich NYC people have their weekend homes are RED not Blue. In NY, the Albany area is Blue because of all the people who work for state government. The rest of upstate is red.

They’ll be replaced by boatloads of third-world immigrants, further advancing the Dem’s agenda.

Meanwhile those they replaced will have moved to YOUR state and started voting Dem.

Your initial response indicates that it was YOUR “feathers” that were “ruffled”. Stop projecting. LIBs often project.

I lived in Ithaca for 5 years and the Bronx for almost three. I know exactly what you're talking about.

Funny, I lived in South Lansing, just north of Ithaca until I was 4 years old. Then we moved to Orchard Park, south of Buffalo. I went to SUNY ESF at Syracuse and moved to NH in 1985.

That county around Ithaca is actually one of the few liberal/democratic voting counties in upstate NY all because of Cornell.

“”Not everyone who lives in a Lib controlled state is a Lib and thinks like a Lib.””

I was going to write my reply but not until I read them all and when I got to yours decided I can stop reading. I am so tired of the old wive’s tale that people move out of one state into another and set out to change the state they move into. What idiotic thinking. It’s something people latched onto years ago and have never let go.

I think it began when people in CA rushed to OR and WA taking their profits from selling their homes and buying cheaper in those states. It had nothing to do with politics. The natives of those states complained because when Californians got to those states, the price of real estate went sky high because of the money they brought with them leaving the natives high and dry..

In the majority of cases, the move is made to GET AWAY FROM ROTTEN POLITICS - not to take it with them! Liberals don’t leave - they like things the way they are in liberal states. Why WOULD they move?

Your point is accurate - my husband and I retired in CA 13 years ago and moved out of the state because of what the state has become!
