Bevin aims to make Kentucky history with this year’s re-election bid

Matt Bevin is Kentucky’s third Republican governor in the last half-century – and if he’s re-elected this year, he’d be the first in party history to win a second term to that office.

It likely won’t be easy.

Bevin gained national repute as a conservative reformer, but made an enemy of the state’s powerful teachers’ union. He’s the least popular governor in the United States, according to a Morning Consult poll in January. Also, the most recent head-to-head poll found Bevin trailing two Democrats vying for their party’s nomination in the May 21 primary.

“Bevin’s trouble comes largely because he has a reckless mouth,” said Al Cross, director of the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues at the University of Kentucky and veteran political reporter for the Louisville Courier-Journal. “He goes after teachers in a sometimes outrageous way. A lot of teachers are Republicans, and a lot of Republicans are teachers. Teachers are still well thought of in rural Kentucky. If not for teachers, Bevin would be a prohibitive favorite for re-election.”

“A lot of teachers are Republicans, and a lot of Republicans are teachers. “

In other words , doesn’t that mean the same thing?

He’s the least popular governor in the United States

Thanx to Mary Fallin's term ending here in OK. Until then, she had that distinction.

Just ridiculous that either one would be least popular when you consider some of the Democrats out there who should be eligible for that title...

It makes sense. Democrats are low information voters who aren’t smart to follow anything other than the high profile social justice issues. Republican voters are much more discriminating which is why Soros and company are flooding us with liberals. We lose by attrition.

Matt Bevin’s leading democratic contender is the worthless attorney general Andy Beshear, son of our last worthless governor Steve Beshear. All Beshear has done during his entire tenure as AG is oppose Bevin at every turn by using his office to sue, sue, sue. Beshear’s done absolutely nothing that would qualify him as governor.

Translation: ‘Bevin will win re-election, but we are going to defeat him with lies. Matter of fact, we are going to say that Illinois will interfere with our elections, because it is as asinine as saying Russia helped Trump win.’

Bevin would have very little trouble as he has a good record to run on policy wise but shoots himself in the foot saying things like teachers being Frankfort to protest were causing more child molestation.

That’s total BS about Bevin. He will win easily here in Kentucky. Personally I’d prefer he take another shot at that SOB McConnell in the primary.

All of the media in Kentucky is from liberal Louisville.
All were shocked, shocked I say, when the democrats were skunked in the last two cycles.
There are only 3 democrat office holders in the state.
Bashear, Jr will be a tough opponent with hordes of out of state support.
Republicans hold huge majorities in both houses. The only special election this year avrepublican won a heavily democratic seat, media was shocked, I say.
Review the hew measures past this year
Heartbeat bill, constitutional concealed carry, etc.. a great session.
Kentuckys huge pension debt was built by the democrats, and Bevins trying to fix it. But takes the blame.
But our greatest secret weapon is Thomas Massie, watch this guy, a very different and special kind of politician.

Bevin will probably lose because his mouth. He was easily allowing the states teachers to make total asses out of themselves and he jumped into the mud with them stupidly. The teachers are rightly pissed their pension funds were spent on the general fund, mainly by the Democrats but the R’s were not innocent. Brashear’s daddy was worst of bunch spending it and Bevin has dumped a ton of money into the pension fund and tried to stabilize it but because of his mouth the idiot teachers blame him.

I work in post-secondary Ed in state and we have been decimated by budget cuts that went into the pension fund. The GOP legislature did essentially nothing to help the pension for expending lots of political capital. Bevin could easily lose because of his mouth and the cowardice of the GOP legislature.
