Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx is not going to resign. She’s going to run.
Last month, Foxx plunged into a white-hot controversy when her office dropped all charges against the actor Jussie Smollett, accused of staging a fake assault and claiming he was the victim of a hate crime.
The venom leveled at Foxx is not about Jussie Smollett. It’s about taking down the first African American woman to serve as the county’s top prosecutor, and about her efforts to bring justice and equity to communities of color.
Her law enforcement critics, mostly white men, say Foxx is soft on criminals and an enemy of the police.
FOP President Kevin Graham appeared on the conservative Fox News network to declare that Smollett is just the “tip of the iceberg.”
“We have had problems getting felony charges approved for battery to police officers,” Graham said.
Foxx is prioritizing resources away from low-level offenses to instead focus on violent crime. She has pushed to have those arrested on minor crimes to be released without a cash bail, so they can return to productive lives as they await trial. She has worked to overturn dozens of convictions of the wrongfully accused.
She has hired more women and people of color, and she has advocated for sexual harassment awareness and training.

Kim Foxx is a racist pig who let a criminal go because of the color of his skin and/or celebrity status.
She is “reforming” her pockets to fit more cash. That’s the only forming going on.

Well, in a LEO force that is 70% male, how is that unusual? But is the statement even true? How many ‘white’ Leos are in Chicago? about 49% - the rest are black 30%, other 20%. The mayor and Police Chief and underchiefs are certainly not ‘white’ and neither were the several police protests.
To hear some people spout off, one would almost think that ‘whites’ in America are a small minority. Do people realize any more that America has always been a traditionally Caucasian nation -— that is still 75% white? Which means there will be ‘white critics’ as well as minority critics? Or are their brains really that undeveloped they cannot grasp that concept and so make it a false racist argument?
Laura Washington is a racial bigot, and everyone in Illinois knows it. She sees everything -— and I mean EVERYTHING — through a prism of race.

I would have preferred the Cook County State’s Attorney upgrade the charges from the misdemeanors Boyle essentially chose for himself when he finally turned himself in, cleaned up and sober, three days after he caused the accident and fled the scene. I turned over the video to police which showed Boyle staggering around; driving his car into one of his victims who was trying to keep him at the scene. The video showed Boyle falsely claiming to be a police officer. But even with the video, the State’s Attorney’s office never charged Boyle with DUI, reckless driving, battery or with impersonating a police officer. His conviction today for fleeing the scene is better than nothing. But the innocent drivers in those cars he hit deserved more justice.”
