Trump’s no socalism statement was a line in the sand. As I have said many times, there is no co-existince with leftists. Sadly, sooner or later it’s coming.

So 31% of those CLAIMING to be in the “R” party are as stoopid as those in the “D” party? Of course claiming to be part of the “R” party doesn’t get you much in my playbook any longer. As if that counted for anything anyway. :-)

Just heard on the radio that, at the current rate, Medicare will be insolvent by 2026 and Social Security by 2035.

I can’t even think of anything snarky to say!

” I think socialism is coming whether we like it or not. Too many Americans (even 1/3rd of Republicans) want to give a shot.”

So newbie troll (joined 1-5-19) explain why every other poll shows that Americans want to keep their private insurance.

Incidentally, ESAD, Soros troll.

Playing devil’s advocate.

Communist healthcare is hellish, godless, euthanasia and abortion-funding, inherently rationing, bureaucratic, slow, limiting, and poor quality.

But the American insurance system is also a costly and corrupt nightmare. So the key is fixing what is in place in an economically and morally sound manner. But let’s not pretend everything was fine as is.

A whole bunch of folks right here on FreeRepublic have demonstrated their solid support for ObamaCare over the last decade. So, yeah — I expect we’ll have full-blown socialized medicine here in the U.S. before long.

Well look, Obamacare is horrible - without subsidies many could not afford insurance. People hate it but they like some features of it. The Dems are going to make HC one of the top issues for 2020, so the real choice is a Trump-developed “Republican” market-based solution or the risk of a Democrat taking the WH in 20 or 24 and giving us single-payer.

[most people want the same thing: a system in which everyone has health insurance, and the right to choose where they get it from, without going bankrupt. ]

It seems to me the only way to get this without price controls (on medical services and medical staff salaries) is the elimination of monopsony power (massive discounts for insurance companies, Medicaid and Medicare) and pricing transparency (i.e. up-front, prohibiting back-end bills). The problem is with prices the same for everyone, how do insurance companies, Medicaid and Medicare cover their administrative costs?

Do you consider the way health insurance companies operate, to be a free market?

Have you tried to get an insurer to pay for a procedure that you thought they covered?

Have you found it easy to know what is or isn’t covered?

Have you checked the salaries of your insurer’s executives?

Baloney. I don't buy it.

The poll, which surveyed 6,600 adults

Where was the test group? How are the "researchers" defining "adult?" 18? 20? 50?

Sounds like they drew their conclusions and then cherry picked the targets.

Sure, if they define "adult" according to the legal definition which is, what, 18? Yeah, I don't doubt a sizable percentage of those cupcakes are ok with socialism.

Most of them think medicare is free. Here’s how it works now for me at age 69. I pay a monthly premium to medicare that is withheld from by SS benefit. Since I am also still employed, the Medicare tax is also taken out of my paycheck every two weeks.
