Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish environmental activist, has given her support for a general strike for the climate, saying the student movement she inspired needs more support from older generations to ensure politicians keep their promises under the Paris agreement.
Speaking at a public event in London as Extinction Rebellion protests continued in the capital, the initiator of the school strike for climate movement was typically frank about the scale of the problem the world faces and the impact her campaign has made....
At several points, she stressed the need for the protests to spread. This is not just young people being sick of politicians. Its an existential crisis, Thunberg said. It is something that will affect the future of our civilisation. Its not just a movement. Its a crisis and we must take action accordingly....
She told the audience she had been taken by surprise at the swift spread of a movement that began less than a year ago, when she went on strike alone outside the Swedish parliament. It is hard to understand what is happening during the last months. It has all happened so fast. I dont have time to think it through, she said....
How to deal with with people in power was a frequent subject of questions to the panel. Thunberg said her autism helped her filter out much of the greenwashing.
We are more likely to see through lies. We dont follow the stream. You cant be a little bit sustainable either you are sustainable or you are not, she said.
There were occasional moments of levity. At one point, Thunberg was asked how she dealt with climate deniers. I dont, she replied....

Good heavens, what would we do if all the environmental activists went on strike? I mean, other than enjoy the sweet silence...
16 years old. She wasn’t even born yet when her leaders proclaimed that children of her age would never see snow in England.
How’d that prophecy work out?
Who is listening to a 16 yr old Swedish girl...seriously?
By putting a young girl with autism out front, her organization is trying to put her - and therefore her cause - above criticism. Very cynical and manipulative.
atta girl greta= bankrupt your country- and remember, when you get old enough to pay for things yourself not to whine and throw temper tantrums because it is affecting YOUR pocketbook- and the climate is still ‘changing’
Poor girl. She has been regarded as weird by her peers, and now the Leftist media has inflated her to hero status. That will last for a short time, then they will dump her and go for a new face.
"And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them." Isaiah 3:4
Extinction Rebellion protests are not going good ,no one is noticing , it just looks like a bunch of Hippies ,LOL
Sounds like she refuses to listen to anyone else too
Her speeches are ,”You Must Panic” that is all ,LOL
It is hard to understand what is happening during the last months. It has all happened so fast. I dont have time to think it through, she said....
That my dear is the whole idea...
but that Nobel Prize ,I’ll Has The Money
I’d be skeptical that she even has autism. Autistic people, especially younger ones who haven’t had as much time to develop coping strategies, do not generally make great leaders and public speakers.
So the idiot West cripples themselves with this enviro nonsense and the Sino/Russians swoop in to their advantage. Realism always Trumps Idealism.
Has Greta promised to “hold her breath until she turns blue”?
That would reduce CO2 much more than just stamping her little feet...
We need to get some issues settled now, then.
For strike breaking...
Wooden clubs only, or can aluminum be used as well?
If wooden, nails and studs at the end? Or no.
