Somebody really wants us to stay there. And it’s not the Syrians.

*** Ever heard of the Koran or don’t you think they believe what their holy book says? ***

I’ve read the Talmud, too. And the Upanishads, and the Bible, and lots of other stuff. I don’t believe every Muslim is a militant Muslim. However, the Wahabbi/Salafists would fall in that category, but hey, our government is in bed with them, so I should give them a pass, right?

“” “” Agreed. Iran had best be careful. I don’t think Trump understands or respects the principle of “adequate response.”” “”

Who said Iran is behind it? Oh, I forgot. It was Saddam Hussain who did 9/11. Or he was the one punished for it.

Never run from a dog. Even if you had no business in his yard.

*** If we really wanted to protect Christians over there, we would have left Saddam Hussein and Bashar al-Assad alone. ***

Correct. Not sure where bead counter got her ideas.

Hard to believe we’ve been screwing around over there for almost 20 years now.

This is ISIS which is Sunni, not Iran which is Shiia.

But do nuke Tehran on general principals

Maybe we should not have gone in but once we did, I’m not going to be for abandoning Christians who have been there for 2000 years, if that is what you want, Bush and Obama did this.

Trump is doing well overall. A lot of Kurds and Christians died to bust down the Caliphate, fought so US soldiers did not. We’ve got a smal contingent there.

*** We’re over there because of Christians and Kurds who fought and put down ISIS with our air support, ***

If you think the Kurds are allies of the Christians, you are mistaken. Look at the Nineveh Plains in Iraq, and Qamishli in Syria. Read what the Christians have to say about their suffering under the Kurds.

He’s not a child now and he wasn’t one then either. He’s a man and narrowly escaped roadside bombs and ambushes. He was in combat with the 82nd in Fallujah. Some people got hit some didn’t. That’s the way it is. I prayed hard. He fought hard. I just don’t like the honor of our warriors sullied. Regardless of why we went there. Same thing with Vietnam. When he first came back we talked and he had doubts about our involvement. So did I. But I told him to never be ashamed of your service. All I’m saying is you have to be careful when criticising foreign actions cause it can be very bad for moral and can play into the hands of our enemies.

Here’s an account I follow on Twitter. Fallujah is still paying the price of depleted Uranium, and burn pits.

But the TTUs don’t want us to stay in Syria; the Deep State/CIA/Central Banks do.

I don’t know what you’re inferring. As far as I know the only weapons containing depleted uranium was used by A-10s and shells from M1A1 tanks. The 82nd are lightly armed paratroopers.

Great reply. Thank you. I too am sick of these endless ME wars. People say we have to protect the few remaining Christians there. When this country took on Iraq, based on lies, we were the ones who effectively broke the Christian community there. So maybe we are trying to mend what we broke, in some small way. We should never have been there in the first place, fighting Israel’s wars. Screw that.

Not quite what went down:

Adm. James “Ace” Lyons (Ret.)

He (Admiral Lyons) talks about the Beirut bombing of the Marine barracks.

In my opinion Reagan blinked when he should have acted. Weinberger was a driving force behind Reagan blinking I might add.

... reform the CIA to its former capabilities and stature. "

Not possible... Jimmy Carter and Stansfield Turner completely gutted the then present and future CIA... It can never be resurrected to 1975 standards...

One of the details about the Beirut barracks bombing that doesn’t get a lot of attention is that the suicide bomber was able to drive his bomb-laden truck past the guard post because the military leadership refused to let the guards carry ammunition in their weapons.

Reagan didn’t “blink.” He simply recognized that it was a f#%&ing disgrace to ever send those Marines over there in the first place.
