Good. There is hope. Trump is serious and we hope Mexico realizes that.

Mexico already got the word from Congress that they will stop Trump. They have no reason to negotiate now.

I’m wondering how many days of tariff collection would be enough to pay for the wall.

I doubt Congress has enough votes to override a Trump veto.

Trump cannot give Mexico an inch. It is time to play hardball.

First, the burden is now on Mexico to stop the flow of immigrants and drugs; they dragged their feet for years and the clock has run out on them. Its entirely up to them to prove to us that they are making a serious effort to help us.

Second, our other trading partners waiting for a deal are watching closely and will be incentivized not to make any concessions if we let Mexico get away with doing little or nothing. We have to push Mexico hard. Other negotiations depend on it.

**************

Why not just skip it and just go straight to 10%? Pain gets peoples’ attention.

BTW the Mexico peso got slammed due to a downgrade by two ratings services — Moody’s and Fitch — and the failure to reach an agreement with the U.S. on the border issue. A real one, two punch.

It sucks to be them.

Yes, but we’re not the president. If I were in his place, I would start at 25%..

Let them TASTE it first:

Just immediately hit them with the 5%.

They need to know we’re serious.

We have been SAYING it’s illegal to cross for 60 years while doing NOTHING to back it up, so we have a LOT of verbal BS inertia to overcome.

We need to help them understand with something tangible.

Why bother?

Well, because there are NOT nearly enough of them to stop our
President...

And we know who they are.

So as for your encouragement for us to just give up?

I’m throwing a flag on your play.

The Corrupt Coup Enemedia doesn’t need your help, anyway.
(Well actually, they do, but it won’t work.)

LATEST:

Trump's tariff threat appears to be working as 'heavily-armed' Mexican police and Marines confront the caravan of 600 -800 migrants from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, departed from Ciudad Hidalgo at the Mexico border on Wednesday morning and walked along a highway toward Tapachula...They were met some 11 miles short of their destination by the special unit forming a blockade on the road....The vast majority of the migrants complied with officials' orders and boarded immigration agency vehicles...Others resisted and were wrested to the ground by unarmed officers or fled to the thick forest nearby Parents sat on the pavement holding their children as the wept and begged authorities not to take them ....the 600 to 800 migrants would initially be taken to an immigration detention center in Tapachula.

The caravan departed from Ciudad Hidalgo at the Mexico-Guatemala border early Wednesday and was bound for Tapachula

Mexico deployed Wednesday a unit of 200 agents from the military, federal police and immigration agency to break up a group off about 1,000 Central American migrants that are traveling northward

A caravan of 1,000 migrants walking through southern Mexico clashed with 200 members of law enforcement dispatched by the Mexican government to stop the group

The vast majority of the migrants complied with law enforcement directives and boarded the government vehicles

A migrant is restrained by several officers

Sone were angry..others wept

Exactly right. AND, Mexico is the weakest of the players aligned against us, therefore the easiest to get to cave in.

Once Mexico has fallen, the rest will give up. If Mexico wins, we have no future.

Listening to Rush today and he doesn’t think Congress can stop the tariffs as Trump is doing it under National Emergency act.
