This is super hard for the Mexican President (AMLO) to have to sell back home. It is the exact opposite of what he ran on, and has long espoused as a major issue (a fundamental human right to migrate into the USA).

It would be like President Trump agreeing to demolish all border barriers and checks at Ports of Entry - the opposite of what his base wants.

It may be that they hope to simply never admit to it in the Mexican media - a Democrat-style big lie.

So true with Mexico you have to see what they actually do or don’t do. What they say usually doesn’t tell the story.

Not so different than in our country when President Trump says something and then Nancy & Company have their version. We have to wait and see what happens here too.

"It may be that they hope to simply never admit to it in the Mexican media - a Democrat-style big lie."

EXACTLY. If the cartels sniff Labrador weakness, trouble.

In contrast, here's El Universal's succinct article. Labrador doesn't call an "emergency meeting" for shits and giggles.

"Obrador has called his Cabinet to an emergency meeting so that all his collaborators tweak the strategy to reduce the migratory flow to the United States in just 45 days.

This Monday, they say, the president will meet separately with his secretaries so that their sectors can help migrants from Central America stay in Mexico, or return to their countries, so as not to set foot in the United States.

They tell us that one of the measures that the government can take is in some cases to support the Central Americans with housing."
