"Mr. Undersander did not break the law, he simply abided by the rules that were in place, so he didn't defraud anybody," said Rep. Mike Conaway, Republican from Texas.

"He intentionally defrauded the federal government," McGovern shot back. "That is, in my opinion, breaking the law."

He intentionally defrauded the federal government,"

But the government can defraud it's citizens. That's ok. See Social Security as one example. I have many more but that could take hours.

Maybe the Democrats are worried there won’t be enough for the Muslims they’ve imported to Minnesota to farm the system for benefits?

True story. I blew the whistle on a crooked company and they not only fired me, but contested my unemployment claim. I was in a world of hurt and wanted to slow my cash burn rate, so applied for food stamps (all legally) while I fought them. Getting on was easy enough.

After I beat the s.o.bees , got my unemployment payments reinstated and, not long thereafter, got a job, getting off proved a little more difficult. They wanted proof, so I sent them paycheck stubs and then got a ruling that I was taken off not because I was no longer eligible (the truth), but because I no longer wanted the benefits.

It is almost like the local office gets rewarded for every family they can sign-up and punished for every household which gets off.

This is classic:

“”You knew this was wrong and you did it anyway,” a Democratic Minnesota state lawmaker said to Undersander in 2018 as tightening the state eligibility rules was under debate. “I find it pretty despicable. … I am just sorry there is no way we can prosecute you.””

An apparently honest man gamed the system, won and they are outraged. If it was wrong why can’t they prosecute? New laws coming in 3,2,1.

I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which grant[s] a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.
-- James Madison, 1794

It's a "bread and circuses" scam where corruption is not only expected but encouraged.

That's ok. See Social Security as one example.

Look no farther than the tax code and the IRS. The whole damn system is corrupt and unfixable.

in the article subcommittee Chairwoman Marcia Fudge, a Democrat from Ohio states:

“And you did this all to continue the right-wing crusade against poor people.”

Wow. The sheer insanity of that comment boggles the mind.

Yup, is’t harder to get off of assistance than to get on. They don’t like anyone leaving the plantation.

You’re MOSTLY right. Get govt out of the way (esp. those asinine ‘rules’ that disallow a fresh deer, or McD’s morning’s left-overs come lunch, or...Biz can’t donate ‘cuz it *might* harm the recipients, but dumpster diving WON’T? Govt! *FFS*) and TRUE charit(y|ies) will take care of the rest + restoration of Rights + shrink govt:

WIN-WIN-WIN...

Loopholes are democrats best friend until they get exposed.
Sounds like the $25,000 check for a book of stamps program.

>He intentionally defrauded the federal government,”

Defrauded? The system was setup as such and he did everything by the book. How exactly is THAT ‘defrauding’??

2nd, suppose they change it to ‘assets’ vs. ‘income’. Why do I doubt they’d NEVER count # cars (Bluebook value??), the O’phones, # of gaming consoles, let alone the $$$ received by all of the possible taxpayer theft (aka ‘welfare’), when tallying-up. Plus, how often would they audit/update the same? Yearly.

Our ‘poor’ don’t fit the definition, but us tax-paying, Rights trampled, economic slaves sure DO.

Well I doubt the loop hole this guy is leveraging is being utilized by large numbers of people.... but he does show that basing eligibility purely on “income” is a flawed model.

Before he Passed Away, my Father got a call from a Social Worker that deals with Residents in the Retirement Community he lived in.

Based on my Father’s SS Income, the guy told him he qualified for Food Stamps. He got him signed up the Program.

I just happened to see the Paperwork sitting on the counter and I asked my Father about it. He didn’t even realize that he was “qualified” to receive $15 a Month in Benefits. Yes, a whopping $15.

Trying to get him off the ridiculous Program took Months. The costs of the time and effort expended by the Public Servants there must have cost thousands of Dollars.

When I thought it was finally resolved, my Father gets another Letter asking him why he hasn’t used the Benefit which rolls over from Month to Month if not used.

By the time my Father Passed Away I’m still not sure if he was still in the System or not.

It was akin to trying to get out of a Timeshare Agreement or getting a dead Democrat off the Voting Rolls.

All these programs are REPARATIONS we are paying or have been paying for decades and the rats add more and more. We are a capitalists society and the undercurrent is a socialist communist machine. FREE HEALTHCARE, SCHOOL LOAN FORGIVENESS, FREE COLLEGE, REPARATIONS, AND A FLOOD OF ILLEGAL UNSKILLED POOR are the goal to collapse the system that allows them to feed and survive. When the money runs out they nationalize the rest of the industry and when this doesn’t produce we are Venezuela

Interesting story. I see you're in California. So it is evidently SOP there to go out and shop for people to put on the rolls? The $15 sounds about right. They told my wife and I we would still get around $30 per month once the unemployment $$ started flowing due to our age (both over 60).

So now, I really think they do get some powerful incentives to keep people on the program. You've got to wonder how many people weren't as honest as us and just kept collecting rather than going to the trouble to withdraw.

P.S. I got out of a timeshare agreement too! The pitch was basically "I own a home, we have no need to borrow money. You can't do much to our credit rating even if you do foreclose. So, do you want to be an @$$hole and pay $200 or more to put in for a foreclosure? Or, do you want to accept our offer to deed it back to you?"

>>>>>>It is almost like the local office gets rewarded for every family they can sign-up and punished for every household which gets off.<<<<<<<

The size of a bureaucracy only goes one direction ——> Larger

Every person that gets out of the program they run is a threat to their livelihood (in extreme) or at the least, a promotion in another decade or three...

We WERE in CA. Sold the House a couple of Months ago and are in MS for a while my Wife tends to her Elderly Mother.

My Wife’s Sisters and Husbands moved here years ago to Semi Retire, but they both ended up working. My M-I-L came with them but now her Health has deteriorated so my Wife has become her Primary Caregiver. Just moved her into Hospice.

Not sure were we will finally end up. My Wife isn’t a fan of the Southern Climate being a CA Girl born and raised. Her Sisters living here adapted and love the Lifestyle.

As far as these Government Programs go, what is the incentive to reduce or eliminate them? It’s the same as the Race Baiter Industry. Busy work for Government Employees and Busy Work for Bigots. Follow the Money.

Thee is a reason that Washington D.C. (Democrat Cesspool) is surrounded by the Richest ZIP Codes in the Country. They produce absolutely nothing but they consume Billions in Taxpayer Funded Dollars.
