Between May 29 and July 1919, an expedition organized by Cambridge astronomer Arthur Eddington and the Astronomer Royal Frank Dyson photographed first an eclipse of the Sun (May 29) and then, a month later, the stars where the Sun had been during the eclipse. By comparing the two photographs, the deflection of light caused by the Suns gravity could be precisely measured. Einstein gravity theory predicted a deflection value of 1.75 arcseconds, and Newtons gravity theory a value half that. The results were announced in November 1919 to a joint meeting of the Royal Society and the Royal Astronomical Society. Prof. Salim Mansur nicely described the expedition a few weeks ago on this site.
Einstein was confirmed! Newton was overthrown! And multiculturalism was born.
Let me recommend reading Prof. Salim Mansurs Delectable Lie: a Liberal Repudiation of Multiculturalism, which gives the following very nice definition of multiculturalism: the idea that all cultures are equal and deserving of equal treatment in a liberal democracy (p. 2).
So how did the eclipse observations birth multiculturalism? By overthrowing the Newtonian Empire.
For if the central theory of physics, Newtonian physics, could be proven false, there was no guarantee that Einstein would not himself be overthrown in the future. As Karl Popper put it in his The Logic of Scientific Discovery, All universal theories, whatever their content, have zero probability (p. 373)

Nuttiness all around.
Brain farts on too much alcohol too late at night
Newtonian physics is still what people learn in there school science class, so hardly a failure. Just not precise enough to fully explain how the universe works. Even quantum theory fails to explain everything.
Nothing in this excerpt explains how validating a physics theory led to multiculturalism.
All things considered, my theory is that Einstein was a space alien.
That read like the scribblings of a drunk scientist.
Well, I don’t think there is anything particularly scientific about equating cultures regardless of fitness to meet rudimentary benchmarks. Science should accept working contributions regardless of the culture the person who makes them comes from. That doesn’t mean that everyone is equally correct in everything they believe, just that everyone is allowed to make a valid argument without being shot down because of where they come from.
The Left actually has a real problem with this concept. I ran into one this semester. Professor who had a very narrow definition for acceptable sources. African scientists (actually) were the example given as a bad source in a very strange and frighteningly simplistic diatribe.
I think you get into trouble when you mix absolutist belief with empiricism because the two are incompatible. They both have their uses but those uses are not the same.
I should have said you get into trouble when you try to swap out empirical findings with absolutist belief.
The Australian philosopher David Stove, in his book Scientific Irrationalism: Origins of a Postmodern Cult, showed that all post-modernism, in particular the entire work of the philosophers Karl Popper and Thomas Kuhn, is based on the belief that Newtonian physics was replaced in the twentieth century. If one reads carefully the founding texts of postmodernism in the humanities and the social sciences, one sees that these texts acknowledge that postmodernism is based on the perceived fall of Newton. Often they quote Kuhns The Structure of Scientific Revolutions to this effect.

Love it!
Great mathmatics!
What an absurd article. And the headline uses “instead” as if Einstein were proven incorrect.
Newton didn’t address only this one issue.
He has a broad body of work that holds up very well.
Sometimes articles get a bit myopic.
We would be very fortunate to have as solid a spot in the scientific community as Newton does.
It only proved that Einstein’s theory was “more” correct. But that’s far from saying that neither is correct, and only subject to someone’s personal interpretation.
re: “Einstein was confirmed! Newton was overthrown!”
I think this “theory” thing between Newton and Einstein needs a re-think too.
Too much ‘garbage’ in QM to make sense, in light of new, recent discoveries not all of which physicists are in agreement with let alone even aware of ...
By the way, Newton himself didn’t predict that the sun’s gravity would bent light. That was only implied later when it was discovered that light had a finite speed. What was not taken into account until Einstein’s theory is gravitational time dilation.
“But thats far from saying that neither is correct, and only subject to someones personal interpretation.”
It’s a big step from “gravity bends light and time dilates when you approach the speed of light,” to all reality is created by social consensus and no reality has any claim to be better than any other. In some ways, the theory of relativity was named unfortunately in this regard.
There’s a theorem in machine learning called “no free lunches.” It was abused in a similar manner (in a much smaller circle).
The reason ‘multiculturalism’ is winning is because the Left figured out that it can be used as a tool to overthrow Western cultures while empowering Leftists, and also, at the same time, giving them a sledgehammer to knock down anyone opposing it, by calling them racist, and punishing them if they don’t stand down. It had nothing to do with Newton, or Einstein.
The problem with people like this guy, and sadly most on our side, including Trump at times (sadly) is that they are not able to comprehend the PURE EVIL of these people, and the fact that they HATE US to the point where they would enjoy watching us be tortured to death in jail, should they ever get the level of power needed to do just that. That’s who they are and the race is on as to whether our side figures it out first, or their side prevails.
