I agree with you. I can’t stand FB for most things and I avoid politics there. I’ve unfollowed so many people because admittedly it can be upsetting to read the negative things some people insist on posting.
FB is how I stay in touch with my cat’s breeder in Italy as well as many European breeders I follow. That’s the only way they communicate. So I’ve filled my feed with beautiful cat and kitten pictures to counteract the sometimes negative over sharing. ;)

I admit that I used the wrong word. Instead of “During” I should have written “after” or “in the aftermath of”.
Your post doesn’t have much to do with what I recall they were doing, which was more along the lines of getting information on help, services and what was going on after the event.
And my post was in response to your question ‘Who in their “right” mind needs Facebook?’ Maybe you and I (Did you catch that “And I”?) don’t, but that doesn’t mean that others in their right mind don’t, especially if local government is using it to dispense information after a disaster.
Just say "no".
I’m surprised that no one so far has mentioned the Facebook Alternative - GAB.
Facebook is the only way I can find out where the Mobstah Lobstah truck is tonight. It is very difficult to get a decent lobster roll in SW Florida.
