Yeah, well, you deserve the society you get. If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.

Ask yourself, who deserves respect, the guy to took care of the problem and the bystanders, or or you with your sophistry... Now ask your wife, a woman... Any woman, for that matter. Who took care of the kids? Who made the community safer? I posit not you, and you may be surprised that mothers do not see this the way you do. Our legal system and law are not necessarily the same. We can agree the problem was solved satisfactorily, men took care of it.

I understand what you are saying, but our society has become extremely lax about enforcing the law. Criminals are given another chance over and over, getting no punishment or a slap on the wrist.

Society is noticing, society at some point will respond with vigilante justice or mob rule. It is not what is best, but that is what happens when law and order break down. You either have no law enforcement, tribal existence or people take the law into their own hands, or both.

I don't know what the answer is to bringing back a more civilized society. We seem to have a lot of sympathy for criminals and little for victims.

My original post was on the legality of bystanders joining in: "Do they have 'standing' in a legal sense." But the extension of 'mob' violence beyond that particular event is already here: It's called "Antifa." I don't want - still don't despite the comments - mob violence. But as society continues to degenerate, we will see more of it.

I don't intend to stomp on a guy after he has quit being a threat. But I do intend to intervene to stop threats. Where that line is to be drawn is determined by juries.

Or should be. Too often judges condone the 'right' sort of violence. It all derives from the socialist/collectivist idea that no one is important as an individual. All authority and (therefore - inevitably) all responsibility belongs to the State. As a result, criminals only do wrong because 'society made them do it' and individuals who try to take back power from the almighty State are the real problem. Taking back power can be through use of force (including deadly force) against the thieves of the world, or even by 'being white' and working to earn more than the State thinks the proletariat peasants should have.

As I said in my first post: If I were on the jury, the baby daddy would get off - even if he beat the guy to death - but the mob that followed would be held to the standard of stopping when the threat was stopped. Else we have Antifa without the black hoods.
