The Rev. Jesse Jackson sent a personal appeal to President Trump last Friday, asking him to pardon the imprisoned former governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich.
Jackson, the civil rights leader whose nonprofit Rainbow PUSH Coalition is based in Chicago, argued that Blagojevich’s 14-year sentence is “unfair and unnecessary.”
“Rod Blagojevich was a governor that cared for the people in the state of Illinois,” Jackson said in a letter that was co-signed by former congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., his son. “We stand with his family as they seek a full pardon for a father and husband that has served most of a sentence that was far longer than the offense deserved.”

If I recall correctly, it is because Democrat Blagojevich was allow to be punished for corruption (in CHICAGO!!!!) because he got caught (by Democrats) trying to sell Obama's former seat, rather than giving it to the one that Obama had hand-picked as his successor.
The timing on this could be interesting.
The dems are trying to impeach him, and what if he pardons one of them?

President Trump already floated the idea of pardoning both Rod Blagojevich and Martha Stewart. I think the president mentioned the possibility a few years ago but has not acted upon it as of yet.

How so? Because Blago tried to sell the seat, and didn't give it to Thieving Obama's choice? Seems to be a coin flip of evils, here. The fact that Roddy wasn't dragged into the parking lot and shot, is what is the shaft, to the rest of civilization.
Always been my opinion, the more power you are granted, the more severe the punishment when you abuse it. It might temper the theft, a little.
