They may not get VA care but they are covered under the insurance plan every other Federal employee gets should they choose to take it. Disability insurance is also offered should they choose to take that. They are also covered under Workman’s Comp as far as I know.
So I’ll save my sadness for actual veterans.
But that’s just me.

Retired Army 1SG prior to joining foreign service and kept Foreign Service Benefit Plan ins.... Same as Congress and the sister at post;)
However these people are commissioned the same as a military officer. Given that sad “State” of discipline it would have made having the UCMJ or a UCSJ mirror for real!
