El Paso County District Attorney Jaime Esparza has vowed to seek the death penalty against 21-year-old Patrick Wood Cruisus, the man responsible for killing 20 and leaving 26 injured during a shooting at an El Paso Walmart on Saturday.
The gunman walked into the Walmart with a ".223-high capacity" rifle, extra magazines, eye and ear protection.
The FBI, Border Patrol, El Paso Police and Fire and Texas' Department of Public Safety all responded to the scene.
The shooter was arrested on Saturday and booked into the El Paso County Jail early Sunday morning, the El Paso Times reported.
As of now, no bond has been established and Cruisus has been appointed a defense attorney.
The gunman posted a manifesto online, which El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen said we have to attribute that manifesto directly to him.
The Associated Press explained more about the manifesto:
The document posted online expressed concern that an influx of Hispanics into the United States will replace aging white voters, potentially turning Texas blue in elections and swinging the White House to the Democrats.
When asked whether the shooting was a hate crime, Allen said its beginning to look more solidly like that is the case.
Federal prosecutors say theyre treating the shooting as a domestic terrorism case.
The El Paso Police Department asked people to donate blood. Lines outside of donation centers quickly had a wait exceeding two hours.
Blood needed urgently. Multiple injured transported to various hospitals. Blood donation centers Vitalent Blood Services at 424 s Mesa Hills and 133 N Zaragoza EL PASO POLICE DEPT (@EPPOLICE) August 3, 2019
Doesn’t the manifesto specifically say he doesn’t hate Hispanics, or something to that effect?
It was bound to happen. People get tired of being second-class citizens in their own country. The people responsible weren’t in the Walmart. They are on vacation from DC.
Responding to myself - I see that it doesn’t say what I thought it did when I looked at it last night.
This is a new type of nihilist thrill killer. It started with the Christchurch shooter. They all have the same MO. The confusing manifestos that stir up the media are part of the fun.
The manifesto is all over the place. It says he is against the immigration flood and also says the native americans were too lax in letting Europeans into the area. So he thinks the United States should belong to the Indians? It says we are polluting the Earth but doesn’t believe in slaughtering people to curb population growth yet goes off and slaughters people at a Walmart. It is all over the place and written by an irrational person.
I personally believe the manifesto might actually be his. If it was written by the Left I doubt it would have included grievances for which the Left is known by — climate, hate of corporations. It sounds like it was written by an anti-immigrant youth indoctrinated in public schools.
And the baseball shooter wasn’t motivated by overheated political rhetoric? How about banning rhetoric of any kind, then. Stupid argument, won’t hold water.
...sadly, I agree.... I am an old(er) white Christian
straight, happily married (to a member of the female
persuasion, almost 50 years) conservative male...
therefore, I am the “enemy”?? -I am a second-class
citizen in my own country (almost 30 year military
veteran....)..?? oh, well...and this...
“The gunman walked into the Walmart with a “.223-high capacity” rifle,....” yup, an “assault rifle” no doubt...
AK or AR
That and that his inspiration is The Lorax by Dr. Suess. Kid you not.
There are have been several events.
The most horrific was in Norway.
Then we have the New Zealand mass murder.
Now we have El Paso.
They all say they are against the Great Replacement (of white people/Western civilization with more pliable populations).
The New Zealand killer said he wanted to spark a Civil war in the United States, and wanted draconian gun control to be the trigger.
As the El Paso killer claimed to be a fan, one would expect him to desire the same result.
The manifesto has been changed? What is different?
It was already posted the MyLife page had been changed from D to R and new juicy pro Trump tidbits.
From the pic, it looks like an AK.
It’s a shame that Townhall is repeating left wing liberal bullshit. The dude was videoed carrying an AK-47 or SKS, they are not (usually) chambered for .223 round, secondly his “manifesto” was not primarily a rant against immigrants as Beth tries to imply, third he demands a universal income and free healthcare for all, which is not a conservative concept.
Interesting points but I’m not sure it’s a new kind of killer so much as just anarchists with new tools and a more predictably ‘useful’ press.
Yep. Just posted earlier today: These killers seem to be leaving behind nonsensical manifestos just to have "more fun" with everyone.
>>his manifesto was not primarily a rant against immigrants as Beth tries to imply, third he demands a universal income and free healthcare for all, which is not a conservative concept.<<
He also rants about climate change, college tuition, big corporations, oil and gas companies. He sounds like a Bernie supporter. People forget Bernie was very anti-immigration before the DNC got to him and brought him in line with their pro-immigration agenda.
<< The document posted online expressed concern that an influx of Hispanics into the United States will replace aging white voters >>
So he figured that murdering some people in Walmart would somehow help keep that from happening? No, he knew damn well that, if anything, his actions would only serve to help the cause of those who aim to take away our guns and erase our borders. That combined with his environmental catastrophist and anti-capitalist views makes him indistinguishable from Antifa.....and every Democrat candidate for President, for that matter.
“When asked whether the shooting was a hate crime, Allen said its beginning to look more solidly like that is the case.”
As opposed to all those other murders that are not acts of hate. You see, murder is not always acts of hate, according to these geniuses.
I was disappointed in the governor of Texas giving a nod to the hate crime insanity.
Earth to politically correct idiots: murder is ALWAYS an act of hate, by definition.
The nonsense manifestos are part of the troll pattern, part of the ‘fun’ to watch everybody go nuts pointing fingers. “He’s a lefty! No, he’s a Republican!”
It all started with the Christchurch shooter (who streamed his attack live and basically admitted it). Afterwards these nilhilist shitposting losers try to stay alive so they can laugh and watch the resulting chaos unfold.
