They identify the problem, and then invariably their solution is more government control and intervention.

So the solution was to cancel the insurance of all the people who were insured, and raise the prices of insurance, and force everyone who lost their health insurance to re-enroll in more expensive plans to cover the cost for those who could not afford health insurance. Notice, they never actually solved the problem of health care (which is not the same as insurance) and there are still tens of millions of people who don’t have insurance. And so now they want to cancel the insurance of everyone AGAIN, and make all the doctors employees of the federal government with a single-payer system - and you can already predict where such a thing would head (rationing among others).
O’Rourke says we have a problem with guns, he supports a mandatory buy back from the millions of decent people because of a few crazy people. I would ask him, we have a total ban on Heroin, Cocaine, Meth, Fentanyl etc - and yet 1400 people die from these drugs every week! Should we do a federal buyback of all the drugs in America?
