Full Title:"Father-of-five who advocated rights for immigrants is hit and killed by a Salvadoran man in the US illegally who was ordered to be deported eight months ago"
A staunch supporter of the rights of immigrants - and a married father of five - was killed last week when an illegal immigrant from El Salvador facing deportation crashed into his motorcycle in Colorado.
Sean Buchanan, 45, was driving northbound on Highway 83 on August 2 when Colorado State Patrol say a southbound truck operated by Miguel Ramirez Valiente went off the side of the road, then over-corrected into the wrong lane and crashed into Buchanan's bike, killing him.
Valiente, an undocumented immigrant who was slated for deportation eight months earlier, was charged with misdemeanor careless driving with a revoked license in the deadly accident.
In an ironic twist, Buchanan was known among friends a passionate advocate for all immigrants.
Valiente has a criminal record in Colorado that includes a 2018 conviction for a DUI charge, which earned him a year's probation and the revocation of his license, and a guilty plea to a charge of reckless endangerment in a child neglect case.
On August 1, less than 24 hours before the deadly crash that killed Buchanan, Valiente's probation was extended because he had failed to complete his court-ordered treatment program and community service.
He made national headlines in January when he sought sanctuary at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church in January to avoid deportation to El Salvador during the federal government shutdown.
'I cant be separated from them,' he said at a press conference at the time, according to The Denver Channel. 'I have always worked hard to support my family, and they depend on me.'

In a Facebook status update announcing a celebration of life service for her late husband, his wife Kathy asked people to donate to Casa de Paz, an organization in Aurora that provides shelter, meals, access to phones and transportation to families separated by immigrant detention.
Too bad...for the kids.
So, will this blended family minus one still contribute to the Casa de Paz?
If someone had to die at least the right person died this time, and not some innocent American
A good person reminds me of Amy Biel.
Even a good person can have misplaced priorities.
Valiente, an undocumented immigrant ...
Stop calling criminal aliens immigrants.
Illegal enabling widow works for Focus on the Family? I’d say the leftist march through our institutions is just about complete.
I thought “Immigrants” already had Rights.

The Irony is well, ironic.
No good deed goes unpunished.
I guess the Salvadoran man didn’t know who he was killing
Death by Dreamer.
I should be more sympathetic, but my compassion for those who support criminals ran out long ago.
They some Faiths especially Catholics embrace tha they mistakenly think it is Biblical love and all that
Including, apparently, those illegal immigrants who kill innocent Americans, as well as Buchanan himself.
Bleeding heart liberals with misplaced priorities.
Being a good person and meaning well, is no insurance policy against the ramifications of the ultimate stupidity of your actions.
We are a nation of laws. Some of those laws have been enacted to protect people like this husband of one and father of five.
Responsible people get in line, go through the process, and are welcomed into this nation. They will likely follow the laws in our nation and become productive citizens. The process itself weeds out undesirables. If you’re not a go-getter, you won’t go through the process.
So now this guy will grow smaller and smaller in the rear view mirror of his family as they go forward.
An illegal alien who was responsible for his death won’t even get his hand slapped for what took place.
I’m sorry this man is dead, but he and many like him supported an environment where many have and will continue to die.
Perhaps the penalty for doing that has now been met. There’s no guarantee of that though. Six other family members remain.
What’s in store for them at the hands of still another illegal immigrant?
Thanks dad. /s
advocated for immigrant rights. Legal immigrants naturally have rights. Illegals dont or shouldnt get to benefit from these same rights. Another American dies yet again from an illegal entrant who wasnt deported.
