Being a pastor is a very tough job if you’re going to take it seriously. I think the first time that hit me was when I was in a Bible study with our senior pastor and our church men’s group, and he got a message during the middle and said he had to leave to go to the hospital. The message was that the teenage son of a family in the church had just committed suicide over a breakup with a girl, and he had to go to the hospital to be with the family. I thought, wow, I would have a tough time dealing with that and he is on call for things like that 24/7.

As for my own churchgoing, I tried to attend a Bible study at Lighthouse Ministries south of my town last week, but nobody was there.

There's a Community Bible Study in Westminster, in Gaithersburg, and in Bethesda. Classes starting in September. CBS is really, really awesome. There are day groups and evening groups. Get in touch thru the web sites linked above and see what works with your schedule. There is an affordable fee, but that gives you amazing study materials and lots of program extras.
