I haven’t had a drink in 12-1/2 years but as I was reading this article I was thinking that this sounds like the inane, drunken conversations we would have at the bar after a few beers and shots. Luckily we would forget about the inane conversations the next day so we wouldn’t repeat them and sound like a dumb ass.

That was the scheme proposed during the French Revolution, sometimes called French Republican Time. Like the metric system, it makes calculations simple.
Everybody adopt universal time
This idea has almost certainly be implemented within some large companies that operate globally in a time-sensitive business. FedEx and Amazon are two that would seem to be ideal candidates for this.
One thing this does is eliminate the whole problem around time changes in the fall and spring when shipping between one country that uses Daylight Saving Time and another that does not.
So, it’s 10:17 P.M. here. Almost quittin’ time!

Swatch tried this back in the late 90s. Was a huge fan of it myself, but it didn’t take off, obviously. There are still some enthusiasts, though.
