For purposes of civil government this is a fine basis. Trump is not our Theologian in Chief.

An eye for an eye is not Christian.

The Talmud teaches that the verse is not to be taken literally. That is, it does not mean that if one man knocks out another man's eye in a fight that that man should lose his eye too. Rather the victim is to be compensated monetarily.

(I'm not so sure.)

Yeah, I’m fine with it too.

Especially when dealing with the left.

Whether this is a current or fake quote from Pres Trump, it gave me my first laugh of the day. Another saying is what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. Or giving as good as one gets. Lots of other ways to impart the way one reacts to intimidation and threats and assault from domestic and foreign bullies and enemies of the US. I hope this sentiment is useful in taking down the Deep State traitors now in the process of trying to destroy the presidency of our elected President Trump.

....we can summarize that in the NT, Love God with all your heart and love thy neighbor as thyself, replaces the concept of “an eye for an eye”.....

Replaces?

Replaces?

I can tell you do not read your Bible......................

“That’s not a particularly nice thing.”

It says nothing about PDJT believing in living this himself - only that it is something he thinks about. He says it isn’t a “nice thing”.

I’m more than aware that non-Christians, especially the left, believe in an “eye for an eye”. It is appropriate to never forget it.

From scripture, Exodus 21:23-25 states, “But if there is harm, then you shall pay life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.” Leviticus 24:19-21 echoes this assertion, “Anyone who injures their neighbor is to be injured in the same manner: fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. The one who has inflicted the injury must suffer the same injury.

I made this post to perhaps give an insight to President Trumps thinking and approach to domestic and world matters. The comment was made by Trump as a front runner before the election in 2016
Yes, this is OLD news, but is IT? Think about it......and I don’t think this is FAKE NEWS either.

Trump should read his Bible more. Maybe look it up in the Two Corinthians. An eye for an eye is not Christian.

You apparently haven't read Leviticus (24:20ff) or Deuteronomy (19:21ff) where God establishes equity in punishment: "eye for eye, tooth for tooth, etc." This is just and still God's law and is still "Christian". Jesus did not come to abolish the law.

We are to obey the laws of the land and not effect private justice, except when life and limb require it. The right of measured self-defense is enshrined in our laws. When it comes to non-life-threatening insults we do not have to respond in kind, but can turn the other cheek.

The punishment should fit the crime. This was actually a moral progress between citizen and state. Any offense was punished severely.

Don’t show off the things he does that turn a lot of fence voters off.. I nervously wait the time out hoping he does not do something the media can use and lie to the people about before election time.

For example: I have family (and I know there are more out there) who think Trump’s off the cuff talk, works against him. Sometimes he gets into trouble talking like Trump talks, but it is not elite enough for those out there... and we have to win this next time around... 4 more years.. if we don’t.... this country will not recover from the left’s destruction.
Trump does enough talk all the time ... off the cuff... adding what he said 3 years ago is not needed. He is not a Bible scholar and it shows.. which the elite use against him. He has not been in the Bible, but he has prayer in the oval office and in his government.. he is doing so much good and the left/media/elite/establishment just go after him tooth and nail because he is not Professional enough... and that’s why I wanted him in.. but the left is stuck on power.. absolute power.. and Trump is not easily scared away..it blows their minds and sends them even deeper into corruption.
