How is it unreadable? I’ll admit it could use some editing here and there but the meaning is clear, and more important than grading the composition on its style.

My memory says I’ve seen it on forms in the past. They didn’t like the word “sex” which was a bit racy.

Yes, “gender” and “sex” are often conflated — or (worse) “gender” used, where the correct word is “sex”. Probably, in large part, because of the reason you cite — too racy. However, it is also often deliberate — if words lose their meaning, it becomes impossible to have rational discussions of the issues. It's a “sex-reveal” party — not a “gender-reveal” party. When change-room, and bath-room policies are being discussed — sex matters a lot more than “gender”. The reasons should be obvious — but, obviously, they aren't, for certain people.

One of the best bosses I ever had (certainly in the top 3) was a black woman who NEVER backed down from protecting her people, and NEVER expressed ANY preference for any workers on her team.

By far, the worst boss was also a woman. Same company. Different department. She was insane. She would scream and yell at people for nothing, and let huge problems go. I was at the USPS. She let one of our guys come in and tell her that he’d accidentally sent out over 7000 copies of a major virus through the official antivirus e-mail account, and told him to just send out an e-mail correcting the problem. About 5 minutes later, she screamed at me and dressed me down for over 45 minutes because one document, not that I wrote, but that our document editors wrote, and I just approved and sent to the testers was rejected because it was a 51 page document on how to install the software I wrote, and on page 47, it was missing a period on one sentence.

Believe me, she was psycho, and I often was asked, since my cube was right outside her office, what her mood for the day was. She got pissed at me one time because I got 4 of the team fired. She blamed me and said whatever grievance I had with them, I should have gone to her, not their contract company (my company too). I didn’t have it in me to tell her that the reason I went to the company was they were, for about 3 months raucously ranting about her, rape fantasies, murder fantasies and bestiality fantasies and often combining them. I’d had enough. She tore me down in front of her boss and demanded that she be allowed to fire me. He told her no. When she quit a few weeks later, as I was walking her to her car, I told her why. Told her that I stood up for her, and that she’d humiliated and denigrated me for doing so. She cried and apologized.

I’m a white male in Computer Systems Software Engineering.

I’ve made a ton of money fixing code made by diversity and H1B visa hires.

It sounds like you won’t be running out of work anytime soon either.

I hear H1B’s did some good coding on the 737 MAX...

I disagree with #19. There are fathers so toxic that virtually any other situation would be an improvement over him being around. If every one you know is better than that, I’m happy for you, but it does suggest you don’t get around much.

The problem is one of critical mass. Prior to the 1960s, when most American men got married before having children, they formed a peer group with other men as role models for the younger men. Fathers and uncles could hold a young man's feet to the fire if he abandoned his children's needs or egregiously mistreated his wife.

But when a few college-educated feminists decided that single parenting should be woke fashion for everybody in the 60s, fatherlessness at first affected only a few kids. But between the welfare rules driving fathers from the home during the LBJ years and the feminists' strident overthrow of society through lawsuits promoting free sex, birth control and abortion, judicial decisions of the decades to follow "progressively" dismantled the traditonal family for everyone but the lucky, primarily the well-educated and affluent.

Most impacted? The less-capable and less-affluent folks, resulting in an enormous number of vulnerable and disfunctional chidren. Some of those offspring are already young grandparents today, never having married anyone and neglacting their childrearing through need or ignorance—a multi-generational catastrophe. You see the diastrous results all around you, and in the headlines.

Marriage had been part of Western Civ for 5,000 years. But it's so much faster to tear down than to build up.

Have you not experienced a shamefully randy father among your circle? How could he possibly be even remotely a good influence? You are way uncultured.

You are way uncultured.

My FRiend, those who know me well would laugh heartily at your presumption.

It's also ludicrous to accuse someone of being "way uncultured" due to not knowing any "randy fathers." I don't think you meant what you wrote there.

Nothing in my post had to do with the law-breaking fathers among us. It was about the benefits of having a widespread social ethic of traditional marriage for most adults, which has always been and is still today the safest and best place for most children. And when most adults accept the traditional rules of fidelity and integrity with marriage and childrearing, fewer people go some other way, because their family, friends and employers influence their behavior.

Having apparently lived longer than you, I can tell you that society was much different before the onslaught of pornography since the 60s, when the Soviet and American communists initiated what would become a long program of dismantling family and religious values.

When there was no internet, no Amazon, no big-box stores with self-checkout, plus strict decency laws for print/movies/television, and even the porn that was allowed was hidden behind the counter and men had to ask for it, often from the storekeeper whose wife knew his wife; porn was not easily available to family men—and wouldn't have been sold by most shopkeepers to women at all before the 1960s. What was printed in porn magazines was often tamer than what you see in commercials and in prime time TV shows since the Clinton administration (when he stopped prosecuting obscenity according to the law). There were XXX-rated movie theaters, but family men knew that their cars or license plates could be seen by their neighbors passing by, so shame and fear of divorce and losing custody was a deterrent. Yes, before the late 1970s there wasn't any "no-fault" divorce, so if either partner cheated or abused or habitually brought indecency into the home, they could lose custody and not see their kids any more.

Although there were sexually abusive men, pedophiles and cheaters, most Americans were decent because society was not constantly bombarded with sexual imagery; and those men and women who weren't decent often got a beatdown from the friends and family of the victim(s) and thrown in jail afterwards. The exceptions were the highly respected figures such as clergy, coaches or other leaders who had access to vulnerable children whose parents were in denial and did not protect them. It would not be unusual for a father to go along with his teenager for an after-school job interview if he did not know the employer.

It's never wise to take your personal situation and generalize it outward onto an entire population. I've done graduate research on the breakdown of traditional marriage, including the problem of fatherlessness in current society. There are many causes. While too many men in these broken-down times take brutal advantage of domestic partners or children, the majority of Jewish and Christian men who are married to the mother of their children and live together with their wife and their biological children do not abuse.

Our culture was designed around God-fearing Christian people who worked for a living, which comprised the vast majority of Americans at the Founding and up until the 1970s, which is when it all changed with the legalization of cohabitation, birth control pills, and abortion. If you grew up after then, or suffered in silence before then without the helps now available to abused family members, your individual experience may be different; but that doesn't make it the rule.

I was born in the mid 40s. Social decline was way before that, being about the late 1800s when law stopped being interpreted by whether it corresponded to the Bible. The initial poster assumed an expected condition, whereas I asserted frequent exceptions, not the opposite. Too much red pill, reduce dosage.

Just as nonsensical as your previous post. If you are able, please cite the Supreme Court decisions from the late 1800s that stopped law being interpreted by whether it corresponded to the Bible. I’m unaware of any until 1947 or ’48.

About 1869, our major universities stopped teaching that there is “no law but obedience to God”, thus producing defective lawyers. Don’t you remember the “gay 90s”? Or the “roaring 20s”? Hollywood did exaggerate them, but not by much. We recovered some virtue in certain places, but it remains that the original poster’s assertion of only 1% dysfunction is ridiculously low.

I would argue against #13.
Not all who are impoverished, deserve to be poor.
Counterexample, Gen Flynn, now poor, probably in debt, at no fault of his own, simply remaining faithful to the Constitution, while being targeted by domestic enemies of the Constitution, who hate him because he is patriotic.

Likewise, many who are wealthy, such as many Congressmen/women who miraculously become millionaires after become public servants.

SCOTUS was still supporting traditional marriage as the bedrock of our culture until the legalization of the distribution of birth control to the unmarried in the early 1960s.
