Another common theme among mass murders is that they have had some negative contact with a police agency as a juvenile, and since juvenile records are sealed when said juvenile turns 18, they cannot be accessed in the NICS background checks.
That is an area that should be investigated. Perhaps ALL serious juvenile convictions (i.e., those that, were the perp an adult, would keep him/her FRom being able to legally purchase a weapon?) should be reported for the purpose of denying a weapon purchase?
Being busted for ANY drug use should be an instant disqualifier!

Leftists want us to focus on the weapon used to murder, i.e., a gun, instead of the crime and the nature of the crime. It’s a crime to be a murderer; it’s NOT a crime to be a shooter; every time WE go to the range to do some target work or trap or skeet, we are SHOOTERS.

How about locking up people that try to buy guns who are truly prohibited persons. If you have a criminal record and try to buy, you should be arrested and charged appropriately.

Why the problem with it? I've bought several weapons and the "check" has taken about 5 minutes average time for them to get the "Everything's Hunky-Dory" signal. My daughter was born in Italy (where I was stationed at the time) and Haig "Blessed her as a US Citizen" and she has foreign-issued birth certificate...her check took about 35 minutes because the "system" was maybe confused... I think the check only looks for "flagged" incidents/info which are only there if one has some sort of record/history...

Placing the burden on legal gun owners for exercising their constitutionally protected inalienable rights is NOT the way to go about it. Sometimes I think we shouldn't worry too much about any new gun laws seeing how they don't enforce the current laws. But bet yer azz if there was a way to make lawful gun owners ineligible they'd get motivated. Just like they currently do in other venues that increase their coffers or power.

OK.. I'm convinced... I went through the chart that tigerseye posted and added it up to 26,150,000...
the logistics of the whole thing is what made me doubt the numbers. That's 71,644 a day.. Thinking the average government worker would maybe do 100 a day the FIB, (I do seriously doubt you could get a government worker to do 100 of anything in one day) or whoever does the job, they would need 2,150 people working around the clock, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year... Of course I am aware that there are computers nowadays but I always thought that every application was a "hands on" kind'a deal..
I have no idea why I'm blathering on about this.. So, I suppose I'll just shut the heck up and remember, next time, to give the situation a little thought before I open my big yap.. :)
Yeah - you committed the same “sin” we all do (for me it’s pretty much a daily deal) by jumping to a conclusion...
