0:41 Wednesday at the NAACP town hall, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said Miami has only a few years left on this planet.

Ocasio-Cortez said, “When it comes to climate change, what is not realistic is not responding … with a solution on the scale of the crisis—because what’s not realistic is Miami not existing in a few years. That’s not realistic. So we need to be realistic about the problem.”

Wait a minute.

Remember the whole 12 year thing she told us about, that we had 12 years to address climate change? She later on said that was a joke, but , paraphrasing, all of us deplorable types were too dense to understand the subtlety of her humor.

So then, isn’t this also a joke? Are we supposed to now believe her, that Miami is going to be under water? Since she has a track record of joking and calling us too stupid to understand humor, why would we now believe her?

Horse crap from Mz. Horse Teeth ...

The most recent data from NASA shows a decline in sea level.

Inconvenient: NASA shows global sea level…pausing, instead of rising

You know, it’s a good thing this chick can’t hide her crazy at all or else she might have been married to some luckless Yankee by now.

If Miami won’t exist, neither will Cuba. No need for the Panama Canal when Central America is under water. Gonna be a lot of boat people looking for new homes. Or maybe it’s all B.S. I think it’s B.S.

She’s a ####ing embarrassment in front of the world.

And the left worries about being embarrassed by Trump.

Talk about projection.

Apparently Barack Obama does not agree. He just bought a several million dollar home on the beach in Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. It should be noted that the sea level in Miami and Martha’s Vineyard is exactly the same.

because what’s not realistic is Miami not existing in a few years. That’s not realistic.

She’s right. That’s not realistic at all.

Miami, as founded, hasn’t existed for decades.

You can’t not not ignore her. She isn’t not making sense so much as not negating a non-realistic reality.

Thanks for the data.

If that data is correct it means seas have risen 3.1 inches in 20 years (1995 - 2015) which is higher than I would have thought. In any event it will take a while for Miami to be significantly affected.

She’s confusing Miami with Baltimore. She is also confused about cause. Pretty ok though on the timeline.

Here is some data for a much longer time period ...

Sea levels began to rise 18k years ago at the end of the last glacial period. They have risen about 135 meters since then which is an average of 7.5 millimeters per year. That is an average of 750 mm per century (29.5 inches) which is far more than the average over the last century.

From 1880 to 2000 sea level rose about 20 cm or just under 8 inches. Far less than the nearly 30 inches per century average over the last 18,000 years.
