It was terrible for Beto.
While the base is thrilled and giving him money, he’s alienating a significant part: the gun-tolerant/supporting Left & Center; not a big number, but critical as it only takes swaying around 3% to shift win to lose.
Worse, he’s doing it to his side in general. He hasn’t a chance of winning anyway, but his actions are creating an issue the D nominee will have to answer for. To wit: Beto alone probably just lost the Left the 2020 election.
In a way, it’s win-win win: Beto ends his campaign with a big pile of cash without having to confront Trump, and Trump more easily wins another term.

If he can place at the top of the second tier, ahead of the other young candidates, he is a contender in 2024. Promising to take guns helps him beat Kamala, Tulsi and Saint Pete of South Bend. In 2024, Biden, Warren and Bernie will be gone. That is the race he really wants.

Stupid Robert Francis reacted to the perfect audience!
The more they applauded, the more radical he ranted!

Calling him “Beto” is, once again, letting the Left control the narrative**. Let’s keep calling him “Robert” or “BoB the Irishmen”.
** How many here still use their term “gun violence”? Play word association with you gun buddies: ask them what’s the first thing that comes to mind when you say “violence” and see how effective that ploy is.

A
she probably. Some carpetbagger leftist with a lot of out-of-state money who tried to unseat my congresscritter last year - ran incessant war hero commercials about herself. I get nauseated just thinking about having to go through another election cycle with her insincere flag waving BS every other commercial.

And that’s the dog that doesn’t bark, in the gun control debate. More guns are put to good use, or stand ready to be put to good use, than will ever be used for ill. The folks that own them know that.
