Brock Turner was sober enough to try to run away when other students witnessed him raping the unconscious woman. Should we contact the Guinness Book of World Records to report the world’s fastest sobering-up?
I’m all for ending “regret is rape” but it doesn’t apply in this circumstance.
OK, there are the particular circumstances of the Brock Turner case, which sound like he was, indeed, conscious enough to know he was doing wrong. But then there are these blanket statements such as several above, that excuse women from any and all personal reponsibility for drinking behavior and the dangers it represents, while offloading all sexual responsibility onto males the same “upholders of sexual purity for both sexes” standard that the feminists wanted to be rid of back in the 60s as part of their campaign for the legalization of unmarried sex acts, birth control, cohabitation and abortion.
No woman deserves to be raped.
And nobody deserves to be burdened by drunk women in public.
Sober up. And grow up.
Sober is an awesome way to go through life, predictable and safe.
She may have been raped, but she was also stupid for putting herself in the situation of being passed out drunk among strangers.
Hopefully she’s smartness up since then.
Maybe I just don’t understand, or maybe this guy wasn’t drinking or drunk. Would we still hold “him” accountable for whatever he did but on the other hand say that “she” wasn’t accountable because she was drunk. Maybe they were both so drunk the didn’t know what they were doing.
No, he was found guilty on 2 counts of felony sexual assault and 1 count of attempted rape. The 2 counts of rape were dropped after DNA results came back.
She went to a frat party when she had already graduated and no longer a student. She went there with her sister. She gets drunk, dances on a chair, the sister urges her to stop embarrassing herself. The sister leaves her and goes home. The women then proceeds to get even drunker to the point of not even remembering anything. She apparently leaves with the guy. I can’t imagine that he carried her out of the party in an unconscious state. She eventually passes out and doesn’t remember anything. Even when she wakes up at a hospital she has no idea what went on. It was only a few days later while reading an article in the paper about a drunk, unconscious woman found behind a dumpster that she realized what happened.
My guess is that the only thing she learned from this is that irresponsible behavior can make you famous and you can even make money off of it.
Too bad that the sister didn’t drag her drunken a$$ out of there and take her home. Then we would be spared any knowledge of this person.
When I was in the Army I accepted a ride from a black guy on payday. He proceeded to stick a gun in mmy face and rob me of my entire months pay before dropping me off in the middle of the ghetto. Sure, he did the robbery, but my foolish actions facilitated it. When you do idiot things, sometimes bad things happen to you.
No matter how you conduct yourself, it does not give others license to take advantage of you.
If she was blitzed, someone should have stopped to help her.
Nobody should have raped her.
A drunken woman invading public space is not the same as someone taking advantage of this woman to invade her body.
The gentlemanly thing to do to a woman who is nearly passed out is to help her get home.
No way. Not in this day and age. If I see an unknown female in distress it is a 911 call. If she is a female acquaintance you get a female friend to help her. If that is not possible then it’s also 911. Let the authorities sort it out.
The prosecutors dropped the rape charges after seeing the DNA tests
100% correct. This wasn’t “rape rape” to use Whoopie’s phrase.
His pants never came off and his pecker never came out. He took off her panties and digitally manipulated her.
The jury convicted him of assault because she did not consent to being touched. But she wasn’t raped in the conventional sense. Certainly it was wrong but if it hade been rape rape the prosecutor would have sought 20 years not 6 years.
Her blood alcohol concentration was .12 at 7:15 AM which translates to around .22 at the time of the incident.
His was .16 and taken around 2 hours after the incident.
The guy was a no-good piece of crap and very stupid.
She was very stupid and if I was here boyfriend who was studying 3,000 miles away, I would have dropped her like a hot potato.
Judge gave a consistent/fair sentence based on evidence (One witness had a lot of inconsistencies that Turner’s defense attorney made minced meat off of), two people who could not control their liquor, and hearsay based on consent.
This is another example of the folly known as sexual liberation/empowerment mixed with alcohol. Even then, justice should remain blind.
If a woman is exhibiting any symptoms of alcohol excess, it’s a good rule of thumb to avoid this type of situation, unless you already have a committed relationship including physical contact of more than a few weeks with her.
Otherwise you’re opening yourself up to some terrible down-side.
I actually agree that women have a responsibility. No matter what they do though, it doesn’t eliminate ours.
I will say, if she was participating with certain activity inside, then objected outside, it does raise the question of harm.
Still, if a woman says no, no matter what she did earlier, you have to take a pass.
Do I think it’s necessarily fair? Actually no. I learned in my early teens that “that’s not fair” didn’t play very well even then.
Yes, that’s the way things are these days.
It is disgusting to see what you take to be good conservative people think that a young girl who drank too much deserves to have people hump on her and penetrate her vagina. I suppose their daughters never did anything wrong.
I was just on another thread trying to reason to not be so pervy and keep the site safe for young and our credibility.
Hoping they would understand the importance. Nope. Might be same ones.
P.s. sort of like the mooslimb and demonrat thinking. Irresponsible behavior and blame the person attacked.
Multiple witnesses state she was unconscious from the start of the sexual act to the conclusion. That is rape no matter how she became unconscious. And, as I said to Albion Wilde, if he was sober enough to try to run away when he was spotted by other students that indicates he knew what he was doing was wrong.
It’s amazing to see so many Turner apologists come out of the woodwork. Our liberal judges coddle rapists and other dangerous criminals enough as is. We don’t need conservatives getting in on the act too.
