A newly devised type of silica bead could help save melting glaciers from the onslaught of climate change, scientists say.
The innovative new approach, developed by a company called Ice911, employs minuscule beads of 'glass' which are spread across the surface layer of glaciers. There they help to reflect light beating down on them and slow what has become a tremendous pace of melt throughout the last several years.
'I just asked myself a very simple question: Is there a safe material that could help replace that lost reflectivity?' Found of Ice911, Leslie Field, told Mother Jones.
What they landed on was a silica-based substance - silica being a common ingredient in many rocks - that is able to safely supplement thinning ice and help bolster its resilience against the sun and increasingly warmer weather. So far, the novel new method, which is being tested in Alaska, has been shown to be surprisingly effective.

These crazy insane psychos are going to be the people who destroy the planet. Just like in those science fiction movies, one day they will crack the moon in half, I just know it.
I predict that these glass beads will end up causing the extinction of one or more types of Ice Worm, collect in the gullets of arctic or high altitude living birds leading to die offs,or just eventually blow off of the glacier killing fish or small wildlife down stream.
... or stuff like that there....
A few years in the future they will be whining and moaning about glass bead pollution, but they'll NEVER admit it was a lefty enviro idea!

Yes, what you said. How can it be okay to put tiny glass beads on glaciers, but no plastic straws in the rivers?
I doubt they have done a prolonged and comprehensive “study” on the impact these glass beads will have on the fish, birds, and other wildlife.

I’m reaching my limit with these idiots.
I was thinking the same thing!
Will they reflect the light?
Or will they act like little lenses, magnifying the light and heat and melt the glaciers even faster.?
Could they be doing this to intentionally melt the glaciers, so they can say “See, We told you.”
I recommend that they be required to detail where when and how they polluted these glaciers, if not barred world-wide from doing it.
When we enter the new ice age and need to cancel out the glass beads, they'll play the coal tar card again.
I thought they were going to put up a big umbrella in space, to give us a Lovey Howell style parasol of protection. I want that.
