Much of impeachment inquiry may be conducted in secret
Washington Examiner ^ | 10/02/19 | Susan Ferrechio

“Impeachment will uncover the truth,” House Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters, a California Democrat, tweeted Tuesday.

But a decision by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to hand off the impeachment inquiry to the Intelligence Committee means key parts of the inquiry will be kept secret.

The House Intelligence Committee, led by Chairman Adam Schiff, is scheduled on Friday to interview Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael K. Atkinson.

Atkinson is one of the most important witnesses in the impeachment inquiry. He conducted the initial review into a whistleblower allegation that President Trump asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate corruption allegations against former Vice President Joe Biden and that the White House attempted to conceal records of the July 25 call.

But the public won’t get to see Atkinson testify because the Intelligence Committee will hold Friday’s hearing behind closed doors.

Apparently, the Dems changed the impeachment rules and are witnesses are not allowed legal counsel. Incredible.

So it would go to the senate intel committee to “investigate.” Where Burr lets Warner run things, and in fact on the GOP side is a RINO nest.

Agree. But we did a sternly written letter from the GOP Senate yesterday to the IC IG after days of “Where the heck is the GOP”. Baby steps, I guess. The Senate GOP was getting pounded on Rush yesterday. Just eviscerated by the the host and callers.

Last night Hannity played clips from the meda and Democrats starting the month Trump was elected and showing a clip ( around 30+ in all) for each following month. It should be a commercial, it was that good. In fact, they could do more like that.

Shouldn’t they vote to impeach first?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

There is a procedural reason they have not that most people overlook.

If there was a vote, the committees conducting the House investigations would then be forced to allow Republican Committee members to subpoena exonerating witnesses.Without the vote, Republicans on these committees do not have the power of subpoena, only the Democrats do. It is “just an investigation.” Not an impeachment per se.

So Trump moved presidential phone calls to a secure data storage and that’s bad.

The collectivists conduct impeachment business in secret, and that’s good.

What?! Are you talking about our DDNs? Democrap-Do-Nothings have been an Albatross around America’s neck since the beginning of the 19th Century. So instead of helping a Libertarian Republican President they have only one objective: Destroy him. Well they have crossed the Rubicon and we must destroy them, it is either them or us.

Military counter coup. Trump declares martial law. Schiff and the rest go to prison for life.

Burr promised to retire. Assuming the GOP holds the senate in 2020, the GOP should replace Burr instead of waiting until 2022. But who would replace him? Can’t think of a good outcome. Cotton hasn’t been there long enough, and the spook influence (or should I say command) from the Clapper/Brennan legacy is still there.

The hanging of the elected officials who support the overthrow of the this president will be conducted in public.

Please stop with the outlandish remarks. This is almost as bad as saying something will lead to a second "hot" civil war.

Zero chances on both fronts.

They should be impeached for creating a coup against President Trump.

Cotton is battling Mike Lee for most disappointing GOP “conservative” this Senate term. He has been hiding under his desk at the Senate intel committee while a coup rages around him. I give him the benefit of the doubt that he is not an active participant in the coup but he is certainly familiar with the players and curiously media shy these days on that topic.

4 Nays: Maxine voted against impeaching Rapin Bill Clinton, even though he committed serious felonies.

She needs the Benito treatment.

What Democrats love about secret hearings is that they can leak whatever they want, whenever they want, to support whatever narrative that want—without consequences.

Our secret government.

The classified info excuse is how everything is hidden from the people.

That should be part of the convention of states. There shall be no secret proceeding or data in either House without 2/3rds approval of same in either House.

In fact, I’d change impeachment itself to a 60% vote in both House and 2/3rds in the Senate.

Yes, when a government is searching for the truth, don’t they always do it in secret? LOL!
