They are NOT a sanctuary county. The headline is fake news.
Immigration detainers are administrative and can (apparently) be ignored by state and locals. Federal Arrest Warrants are ordered and issued by the federal court.
Failure to comply is a crime.
The amount of probably cause is the same for detainers and warrants you just need to get a federal magistrate to sign it.
There should be a federal magistrate on duty in every federal district 24/7 assigned to signing these arrest warrants.
I would guess that 85% of all incarcerated aliens are subject to federal criminal charges either for illegal entry or reentry after deportation.
Every bit of information just generates more questions.

Yes the story stinks. The reporter did not do his job. He claims the Sheriff was not available for comment. I guess he just didn’t want to wait on hold for a minute or two before getting the scoop.
The first word in the headline was fake. The headline suggests that the county is a sanctuary county. It is not. The story says the sheriff refused to hand him over to ICE. Fake!! The Sheriff notified ICE that he was about to be released. They gave them a 2 hour window to pick him up. ICE didn’t bother to show up. ICE’s office is located in the same building as the jail.
The story is riddled with lies.
When we see fake news we need to point it out. If you want to believe it, then fine. I checked it out. I did the legwork that the reporter failed to do.
I'll ask again...was the 2 hour window arbitrary or is there some law or something that limited the time he could be held. I don't believe or dis-believe because I don't feel I have the facts to make a judgment.
And pray tell us, what job is that? And after you attempt to explain to everyone that the report has some sort of public duty with respect to truth, can you then tell us who created that definition? You?
One would think that with the constant exposure to the ongoing media war for control of the political narrative, one would never make any assertion as to assumed media duties & responsibilities.
There is a propaganda war being waged by both sides. The media campaign is a critical front in the ongoing CWII. You don't think Trump is going to run with this story tonight? And who cares if the basis is incorrect?
Sh!t, our enemies make up entire stories out of thin air. Why shouldn't we at least play by similar rules, even if there's only slight differences to the essential truth of the matter, in that an illegal alien raped someone and was released. You think you'd be let go after 2 hours? LOL

The story is BS. Isn’t that enough?
We need more counties like Oklahoma County. They do their part. ICE has to do their part. They had to release him. The charges had apparently been dropped. They had no authority under Oklahoma law to hold him indefinitely.

It might work as a short term strategy. But I will stick with the maxim that the truth always wins in the end.
The truth always wins in the end because it can never be destroyed, whereas lies are built on a fragile structure that can always be undermined by an eventual recognition of the truth.
Take the story as it is (mis)construed and run with it. Let the left debunk it as fake news. You can even try one of the standard rejoinders ie "conspiracy theory" to deflect & refute. Example:
Subject: Illegal accused of rape released. Leftist: That's fake news. You: Nice, advancing your pet conspiracy theory again.
See how this works? Don't give them an even break; they certainly don't/won't given the same opportunity.
Something I find fascinating are the number of combat training movies used during WWII now being released over YT and other places.
One of the shorts I recently saw was a brief primer on hand-hand and close in combat. And what did the narrator explain? This wasn't a situation for fair play; anything goes. So, they demonstrated groin kicks, throw sand/objects, playing resigned in order to surrender, then springing forth with a knife for the kill, etc.
Part of popular American dogma is to assume there's some element of 'fair play', as if we're somehow different or better. That's great for bringing up children during their school years, but then when they're drafted for the front lines at 18, they get the direct truth explained to them in graphic detail.
There are plenty of real examples of sanctuary cities refusing to cooperate with ICE. This was not one of them. This is a fake story.
If we are going to make up stories, then we are no better than the Rats.

I have had this conversation before. I don’t necessarily disagree but am pointing out the DANGER of acting like them.
Regarding the fake news , Our strong point is the truth, it differentiates us from them.
Notice Trump deals with the truth in create ways and is getting thru the fog.
Um...not with all the holes on both sides. He was an illegal alien. That's not enough to hold him? You're gonna tell me that they don't have the ability to concoct some reason to hold him until ICE could take him?
Nobody said they had to hold him indefinitely, and you haven't answered whether the 2 hour time limit was arbitrary or when they actually contacted ICE. Was it immediately upon arrest, or right before he walked out the door?
My problem is, I can't think of a good reason for ICE not to take custody of this guy if they were in the same building and were told immediately that he would be released. That's why it's important to know when ICE was notified of his pending release.
Can you think of a reason why ICE would just sit idly by knowing this criminal alien was going to be let loose?
What is your opinion on the dropping of not one, but two atomic bombs on Japan? You know, the action that even LeMay admitted they would have been tried as war criminals if we had lost.
Ready for the rationale? It shortened the war, it saved American lives, it saved Japanese lives, etc.
Well, try and apply the same logic here. Any advantage that is favorable to the patriot cause is a positive attribute. What if this and similar types of stories were critical in winning just one more state like MN in 2020?
Now do you get the A-bomb reference? If you cannot accept that all is fair in love and war, then you will continue to be bedeviled by a very bad case of cognitive dissonance.
You cannot rationalize war - you must play to win, or suffer the consequences of defeat.
The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma City politicians need to be sued because they are not protecting the rights of law abiding people. They are protecting rapists. Is this really what the people who elected these politicians want? Do they really want violent criminals who happen to be illegal aliens to commit more crime?
Someone’s going to have to sue and get it to the SC before things will change. It’s either that or someone’s going to take matters into their own hands eventually.
