Violent crime rates surged across Boulder County over past 5 years [ Colorado ]

Violent crimes cases across Boulder County surged from 2013 to 2018, a trend that corresponds with a rising number of felony case filing across the state.

According to Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty, state felony case filings spiked nearly 45% in five years. In Boulder County, the majority of new felony case filings were for violent crimes, which saw a 32% increase from 2013 to 2018.

...

Violent crimes include cases that involve assault, robbery, vehicular homicide, crimes against at-risk individuals, bias-motivated crimes, murder, attempted murder and stalking. In Boulder County, Dougherty said domestic violence is the county’s most significant crime.

There are a few reasons Dougherty suspects the rise in violent crime cases — both across the state and in Boulder County. One, he said, is likely due to the state’s population increase. Boulder County alone saw 10.7% rise in its population between 2010 and 2018, according to the Denver Post. The other reason, he said, is likely due to a need for more substance abuse and mental health services.

Longmont has the highest hispanic/illetals percentage in the state. Boulder has been a drug capitol for at least half a century. One sheriff of boulder county was a KKK grand dragon. Enter at your own risk.

Don’t do drugs.
Drugs are bad.
And they’ll make your mother sad.

I wonder what portion of the ‘increase in population’ is comprised of illegals and I also wonder if the area is ‘sanctuary’.

But, but, but, it's just weed, man!

Legalization of marijuana, both for medical and recreational use, continues to spread across the globe even as the possible health risks (or benefits) are not fully known. Case in point, according to new research, people who use cannabis daily, as well as those who use high-potency weed, may be three times more likely to develop psychotic disorder than never-users.

Published Tuesday in the journal the Lancet Psychiatry, the new evidence is consistent with previous experiments that suggest heavy use and high THC concentration cannabis -- a 10% concentration of THC (the psychoactive substance within cannabis) or higher -- can be harmful to mental health.

But FR's own stoners/brainless libertarians will deny the obvious. Addicts gonna addict.

I presume Boulder has a homeless epidemic like its uber-left sisters such as San Francisco, Seattle and Austin. Whether these are strung-out druggies whose only focus is their next fix, or the mentally disabled or Trump Derangement Syndrome adherents, the vast majority *do not* want to be treated. They just want to be a leech on public resources without any care for who it affects. Many of these also turn to crime.

Boulder has been a big Leftist “utopia” for 45 - 50 years or longer. It’s not called “The People’s Republic of Boulder” for nothing.

Stay off the Pearl street pedestrian mall. Lots of homeless and what looks to me like meth heads and other deranged types.

Boulder wants to be a gun free zone against honest Americans and a sanctuary for illegal aliens & other criminals.

We have been overrun. I had a retired police officer tell me about a carload of face tattoos riding by his home and giving him the gun finger. What used to be a quiet town (Longmont) is now a cat-lady run, illegal sanctuary, multicultural shithole. We have rent-subsidized, non-English speaking foriegners begging on our corners and bums casing the neighborhoods on their donated bikes.

This is what happens when you have an electorate that can't set boundaries.

Amazing how a state goes blue and the crime goes through the roof. No sympathy here.

If you want to see your future go on google maps, to some of cities like Heroica Varacurz or Guadalajara in Mexico.. Or take a look at Bogota, Colombia.. Use the street view..
What you'll see is walls, iron bars and concertina wire EVERYWHERE.!! Very few people walking the streets, and DEFINITLY no children to be seen playing anywhere..
I think they spend their entire lives behind those walls, and the criminal's own the streets...
