Boyscouts brought this upon themselves.

“… I’m afraid that scouting is on the verge of extinction,” he said.”

Yep.

Mine got his Eagle in2013, the next year they went gay. Was furious with Longhorn Council and let them have it, went through wood badge and all the leadership programs. I blame all this on that asshole Rex Tillerson and Robert Gates. Destroyed a perfectly good organization.

Wasn’t that like a third of the membership?

I can speak to this. They’ve taken the 2 deep leadership and said it is 2 deep leadership for boys and 2 deep leadership for girls. End result - 4 adults minimum for a group of kids, even if 1 girl and 4 boys.

That takes a lot of the fun out of things to be that closely supervised - even if teenagers.

I was involved in Scouting as well. Order of the Arrow too. Very good experience while I was in. It helped me grow into a man.

There were organizational problems in my troop which is why I left prematurely, however. Very poorly managed. We would have never gone to Philmont.

Remember that the courts forced the Boy Scouts to accept leaders that did not live up to the standards of the scouts.

Uh, when did that happen?

I am a scout leader... stay with it because young men need guidance. Thru this difficult time.

I don’t remember any “fees” (except to attend Boy Scout Camp) for anything in the late 50’s.

Your parents probably paid them, unbeknownst to you.

My whole family were Scouters when I was growing up. My parents were leaders and myself, my brother (Boy Scouts) and sister (Girl Scouts) would spend our vacations working on scouting skills and earning merit badges.

My brother and I made Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow. We were also Explorer scouts.

When I had my own family, I was a Boy Scout leader and my wife was a Girl Scout leader. Our son became an Eagle Scout. I stopped being a leader when our son went off to college.

But when the Boy Scouts of America announced they were allowing gay scouts and then later, gay leaders, into the organization, that was it for me. I sent my Eagle Scout award back to them and told them I was done.

I also told them that what they had done to the once venerable scouting movement in the US was disgusting and would lead to its eventual demise. I stopped my annual donations and walked away from the organization that had given me the most rewarding experiences of my young life.

What upset me the most was that the Supreme Court had already ruled that they didn't need to open their ranks to gays scouts or leaders. They did it anyway. If I recall correctly, this was under the leadership of Robert Gates, George W. Bush's second term Defense Secretary, who became president of the BSA. Gates also served under Obama.

It was only a matter of time before the LDS church participation in the scouting movement was severed. This was the straw that broke the camel's back.

The Girl Scouts also took a down turn into the depraved by promoting lesbian ideals among it's young members.

It is by no small coincidence that both of these organizations have been destroyed by the liberal Left in this country, who are toxic to anything they touch.

I agree. The girls do too. I am an ASM with a newly formed girls' troop (separate from the boys' troop)and they need good leadership and role models as well. Many good kids and adults are involved, especially on the local level.

Do you know this, or are you just guessing. I would have carried a check to a troup meeting if that's how such things were paid.

I used to give to the Boy Scouts but stopped when they stopped being a reputable organization and sent kids to the woods with homosexual men.

Like any volunteer organization, we need to be aware of who is involved. Scout troop leadership is local, and mostly consists of parents of our children's friends. We always volunteered and got to know the other parents. It is good to do that on a lot of levels. Having taught in parochial school and had kids in public school, I think BSA at this point does a better job of protecting kids than many schools, sports teams, or other youth organizations.

Trail Life USA has not raised their registration fee and are able to provide a strong Christ centered adventure program for boys.
