It doesn’t make any sense at all. Everyone knows what an assessor’s job is - so what??? They couldn’t have squeezed out an explanation as to just WHY they don’t have the power to get rid of him? Because he’s an elected official? Who cares if he fights to keep his job? I’m sure that’s true of every crook caught for whatever reason...I don’t believe not wanting to lose his job is a defense for his crime! The whole thing is pretty darned stupid and he should be on his way to prison right now! Job or no job!!
