Judge Strikes Down 3 Laws Limiting Assault Weapons, Ammunition In Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – An Allegheny County judge struck down three gun control laws that limit assault weapons and ammunition in Pittsburgh.

The laws were passed after the shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue.

In 2018, the City of Pittsburgh made three proposals to regulate firearms, ammunition, and firearms

The court struck down the ordinances, saying the city didn’t have the authority to implement them.

Director of Communications for the Office of Mayor Peduto says in a statement:

“The City and its outside legal counsel have always expected this would be a long legal fight and will continue to fight for the right to take common-sense steps to prevent future gun violence. We will appeal.”

Will be appealed, but should be a slam-dunk as it clearly violates the Pennsylvania Constitution.

The laws were passed after the shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue.

Which would not have prevented any of it.

PA Constitution:

“The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.”

This was a forgone conclusion. Everybody knew that, including Mayor Peduto. But the laws gave Weirdo Peduto some air time. So I guess it’s all good.

What, can’t they get a federal judge, maybe from CA, to overrule this?

I was just sorting out some old ephemera yesterday and ran across a newspaper (I think early 2000s) that mentioned the hassle of seizing guns, what to do with the numerous guns they’d gotten. And I’m in gun-friendly PA.

Count on the Pittsburgh police to enforce these laws anyway.

Put another way, Mayor Peduto is using taxpayer money for his own political gain knowing that nothing other than that will be gained.

Perduto (noun)

A useless exercise wasting time and money for self-aggrandizement.

Example: Congress is constantly doing perdutos In fact you could say many of the federal government actions are perdutos.

Most of the Pittsburgh Police I've encountered have been armed citizen friendly, not so in Philly.

I have several cop friends that are NRA members.

I know this is not a general rule for all cops, but Western PA is fairly gun friendly territory.

Seems the city had promised not to enforce these laws while they were in court.

If you say the PPD is a good organization then I will take your word for it.

PA Constitution:

“The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.”

I was told by a gun shop owner in PA years ago that with this statement in the PA Constitution it clearly means any legislator can and should be ARRESTED if they submit any bill that could directly of indirectly negatively impacted the possession or procurement of any firearms, ammunition, associated parts or support supplies.

Umm, that's what shall not infringe means you fed legislators.

““The City and its outside legal counsel have always expected this would be a long legal fight and will continue to fight for the right to take common-sense steps to prevent future gun violence. We will appeal.”

The mayor and the city council have to stand for reelection.

Do their constituents support the cost?

The PA Supreme Court is stacked with Soros stooges. That was always the end game here. It doesn’t matter that the Constitution is clear and the existing PA case law is against the gun grabbers. They want the Soros stooges to creatively reinterpret the Constitution from the bench like they did with redistricting.
